Poorly Betta

Just in reply, yes I wrote it technically wrong, being on morphine for the last 6 weeks can do that.

Don't like to argue, just want to make sure the fish ok.

I kept my betta on its own in the PFK aquacube for 2 1/2 yrs before he passed away in feb.
I would never advocate keeping them in small containers just wanted to get across that they really do not like the powerful flow of 15x circulation.

EDIT Wilder pm me and ask for a second opinion, thats only reason I came here. :good:

tbh all my tanks are heavily filtered, being as its a small tank jammed full of plants, i like to make sure its got a nice flow to it, its the first time ive kept bettas so im not too clued up on them.

I think i i have another problem ill jsut figure it out myself, there seems no point in coming onto here and getting the piss taken out of you.

Nel5on - no one is taking the P, just saying how it is for bettas, and one getting a tad heated with another poster - not you!

Bettas have specific needs if they are to stay happy and healthy and those needs in some ways are no different ot other FW tropicals, but in others are very different which is one reason why they don't make good community fish. These needs are so often misrepresented and not met that so many bettas end up sick and/or living in what can only be described as poor conditions which everyone here wants to avoid.

They need much calmer water than most other tropicals - but need it just as clean. They like plants to rest in and sleep on!. If happy, the boys will reward you with lovely bubble nests. Females can be kept in groups, but males can't - not ever. If you observe these fairly simple elements then you'll successfully keep happy healthy bettas.

Agreed with Pammy :good:

No one was taking the P. I think the remark about a whirlpool was just a figure of speech and seeing that persons other posts on different parts of the forum, they are not the type to purposely inflame people. Plus, they were narked at me not you

Every single person who keeps fish has made errors at some point, and people have many ways in which they give advice. You have to remember that its the typed word and can often be read out of context.

Never meant to offend at all.

Just wanted to help you keep the fish as best as possible.

I did get a little narked at Bronzecat and shouldn't have done, as I say this is pain and morphine doing this to me at times. I am sure Bronzecat understands, and has said the advice was good. I should have checked my wording in my book, but as you can appreciate getting books off a bookshelf above head height when you have a spinal injury is not the easiest thing to do. Therefore I wrote that part of the information down wrong, my mistake, Bronzecat corrected it and I am sure there will be no hard feelings between us.

You have probably been given wrong advice, that happens or has happened to the majority of people on this forum at some time or other. We are here to help, and I apologise for snapping, I do need to choose my wording a little more carefully sometimes.

Hows the betta fins doing. Any signs of improvement.

could u make a sponge filter for the tank. surly you have an old fish food container laying aobut and some airline tubing. no flow there and they work great! just use your mature media in your existing filter to make it...PM me if you want directions...i made two in less than 15 minutes.

Hello

Dont worry, id had a bad day myself, and i was worrying to hell about this betta, hes doing good, ive never seen him flare soo much. he seems happy, his body is perfectly blue now, he has 1 tiny piece of rep on the tip of one of his fins, i noticed that he actually has tiny crowns on his tail also. so he could even be a crowntail super delta (he is deffo a super delta)

ill get some pics of him. ive turned the filter down to just 75lp/h and he seems ok, ive also places the flow against the plants at the back. so it kinda brakes it down before it gets to the rest of the tank.

ive recently spent almost £300 on bringing in some nice halfmoon's that should be all finalised soon so im glad you've given me the advice and ive turned the filters down on thsoe tanks also. (ive only ever worked with big tanks, with hardy fish, this betta malarky is a bit different)

ill get some pics up when i can.

thanks agian everyone.

£300 worth! Is that a bulk shipment? Or a couple of really really expensive specimens?

thats for 6 pairs, all top quality animals if you ask me.

if they all turn out to be as nice in person as in pics. then ill probably do a huge bulk shipment, if anybody is interested i could bring them over on my shipment and sell them on at cost price.

We thought about importing a few last year, but with the transhipper costs of going through the German transhipper the cost was way too much. Is there loads of paperwork involved in getting them in? Licenses and what ever is needed?

Ive not personally dealt with any of the paperwork, but there is a fair bit of it or so im told lol!

thanks.

Do you know if the are all related? i.e. sibling brothers & sisters. You may not find out their true qualities until you breed from them. I've heard of a spawn with a HM pair that produced a VT  You got any pics of the ones you're getting? :)
