I am sorry for this post, I assumed to much about the forums readers and should have used a more concise approach to soliciting your thoughts on the two products. One of my goals was to show this forum was not dead. I was successful in that regard however. The second goal was to receive some testimonials as to your personal experience with these well know, worldwide marketed, cannister filters.

I think it's a valid question. Instead of snark, wouldn't it be nice to explain what it is to curious minds?

Old aquarium guy, with many years experience, and I’ve gone away from canister filters…

What is the OP trying to do with yours ( you bought 7??? ) I would guess polishing your water??? I will admit a couple of my tanks could use some “polish” , but I also have several, with crystal clear water, which is accomplished mostly with plants… any more, my fresh water tanks have taken a more natural approach… I did use mostly canister filters, on my salt water tanks, but that was 30 years ago…

I am using them on 7 of my 75 gallon tanks for a winter holdover for 35 Koi (4 to 6 inch) till spring. I need a lot of water exchange and movement and there are no plants.

My main issue with filters used as such ( I farm Tilapia, and have raising tanks in the house, is you don’t typically have any idea how fast they are plugging up ( unless you are incorporating a pressure filter… I’ve gone to using 2 hang on back filters per tank ( I use Tidal 75’s ) they are much faster to service, and easier to see how close they are getting to needing service… I used Marineland, Magnum canisters, when I had canisters 25 years ago ( which is where my forum name came from ) I find the hang on back more serviceable than most canisters

I am aware of some of the better canister brand names, yes, but this one comes off as some of the vague ones you really gotta dig for when it comes to shopping. Not one I've heard of, but if it's related to Sunsun at all, it'll be at the very least good. It also could be a regional thing--I am in Canada, so products could be quite different here compared to where you are, and same for some others who may not recognize the name.

I use a Sunsun canister. It's okay. It does it's job and it's not a huge hassle to clean. I don't like that the flow can't be adjusted, though that's not a huge deal for me because I prefer max flow anyways. It is reliable, relatively user-friendly, and does the job it needs to without any extra bonuses. On its own it doesn't have many faults, but comparing it to other brands I've used, it does lack in strength.

If it's the same as the Sunsun, then I'd expect the same quality. I've not had any leak problems with mine at all. It's a good budget canister (or was, it's gone up in price like many things have).

That said, I also have a Fluval Fx4 and an Eheim and the Fx4 trumps everything, but it's also quadruple the price (I paid about $475 I think for mine?). The Eheim though is the better middle ground. I like it better than my Sunsun, but it also doesn't compare to the Fx4 for all around power. I find the Eheim easier to clean and maintain than the Sunsun. The Fx4 is a big hassle to clean, but it's a massive canister.

Oase canisters are supposedly top of the line, but I've got no experience with them.
