Ok working on a journal for my first adventure with hopefully what will turnout to be pregnant platies (not that I bought them with the plans of trying to breed fish).

Last night I noticed Jerry (male panda platy) chasing my female pandas, Po and Butterfly. I'm kind of excited about seeing what kind of markings my pandas will come up with.

Jerry has strips going up and down his body, Po has just a little bit of black on her back and Butterfly just has a black dot on one of her sides. I want to post pictures but will have to get the pictures uploaded somewhere first. Maybe tomorrow.

I also noticed my sunburst male trying but I'm not to sure if he's got either of my sunburst females yet or not guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Poe was being ornery and wouldn't let me get her picture or at least a decent one. But at least you get to see a few. The kids have also named our three sunburst today we have Nemo (male), Sunset (female), and Try (female)...lol I'll try to get pictures of them soon and see if I can't tell them apart in the pictures.

Ok I don't know what I did wrong but at least you can copy the link and see the pictures.

With NY's help I have mad these bigger for easier viewing

Fixed the pics for you :) You had too many tags. You just press the one that begins with IMG. Did you resize them?
It's always so exciting having fry and seeing what colours they will turn out!

Thank you NY. I will try to remember that the next time.

Yeah I can't wait to see what patterns the little guys will get but first got to wait to find out if we are even going to be expecting lol. I've had these guys 2 weeks and this is the first time I've noticed breeding activity.

Are your females fat? I can't see the pics very well. They still display breeding behaviour even when the females are pregnant. Did you get them from a store? My yellow female guppy was skinny when I brought her home, she's now nearly square so she will have been pregnant from the store which is common for a lot of female livebearers. It makes the fry more exciting to see what they look like!

Everyone seems to be bulking up in the tank even the males. But I got some pics of Poe today and to me she looks different the the rest as far as gaining weight. I'm going to post the pics here of what I took this morning.

Here is one of Poe by herself. Does she look pregnant?

Ok I'm not sure what's going on here...lol My picks are all small. Ok got it. I had the pictures set as thumb nails.

When you are on photobucket and you upload the pics, on the right hand side there should be different options of how to display them, click on the one which says IMAGE CODE (I think thats what it says) so on here they are just displayed like this
you dont need the one that says URL

It's fixed NY and all pictures are big enough to see now including the ones I did yesterday.

In the 2nd set of pics they look quite big! You may have fry in a week or 2 :)

I know Poe (black stripe down back) looks quite different then Butterfly (white one with the single spot in the third picture on the right) and actually Butterfly is sitting in the second picture to the right also and the one with the strips going down the side is Jerry.

I think Poe may of gave birth last night while I was sleeping or I just totally missed it. She looks smaller to me today. But then I could be wrong cause she ate last night when I fed the rest of the fish and then again this morning. And if she did I don't think any of the fry made it.

New grass and plants added to aquarium in anticipation of fry. Have decided im not going to move the girls when they give birth just going to let nature take its course and see what happens.

Updating pics of Poe and Butterfly plus I'm hoping I got pics of the 2 female Sunburst that looks to me like they may be even carrying. One of these chunky Sunburst may be Nemo our male. I have such a hard time telling the three of them apart in pictures but I'm sure I also got a pic of Sunset and Try (blame Try on my 4 year old...lol The names they come up with.)

Poe, Jerry, and if I'm correct Nemo

I think that's Try in the front and Nemo in the back.

I honestly think Butterfly gave birth last night and I missed it. Her gravid spot is red again with no black spots in it. I don't see any little ones swimming around even after I place food in the aquarium. I stillnhave 3 pregnant platies though so I still have a chance. Just wish I had been home last night and this morning. Maybe I will be lucky and some of the fry are hiding in the hair grass and sword plants and I'm just not seeing them.

I'm not sure what's going on here. I've had at least 2 platies give birth and no fry spottings yet. No one should be hungry since they all get fed 2-3 times a day. I just hope our pleco isn't eating them or that they are hiding in the plants somewhere.
