yesterday I bought a plecostomus from my lfs they said it was a bull plec but on returning home and googleing it I found (or at least think) there is know such thing as a bull plecostamus. what is it really?? it is white with black spots on the body and black with white spots on the fins and is about 3-4" and very speedy.
I cannot get a picture of it yet as it is hiding in the darkest corner of my tank and I do not want to put the flash on as it will scare the hell out of the fish.

(also you have know idea how hard it is to take a photo with a fractured elbow)

thanks in advanced
Russ

Bulldog Plecs are silvery grey with spots - also try planet catfish for other options

Not necessarily true. There are striped forms of the "bulldog plec" (chaetostoma sp. 1), and black ones with white spots in the same family (chaetostoma - KathyM had one if you search back through the thread), amongst others.

'Course, this is assuming you didn't mean pitbull plecs? They are silvery with dark spots/patches, from what I've seen, but a completely different species.

I don't think it a petricola I beliveve that it is a Chaetostoma milesi. I'm still trying to get a pic of the plec hes a speedy little bugger!!!
