Hi, I really want to get an algae eater, and I want to know what kind I should get. I want to put a pleco in with guppies, platties, and white cloud mountain minnows in a twenty gallon tank, which would also soon house a gourami. I want my pleco small, non-aggressive, and with a voracious appetite for algae. My tank is generally pretty clean, but there are some spots on the tank where no amount of scrubbing with my large algae scrubber can make an impact. If i get a bushy-nose plec, what smaller variety should I buy?

The kinds you would find at a pet shop, even though there are many difference subspecies of bushy / bristlenose, would all generally end up the same size. I have two long finned BNs, male and female, and I NEVER see algae in my tank :) They tend to max out around 4-6", though 6" is definitely on the high side.

Try candy striped plecos L015, they look lovely, are very good cleaners, mine do roam around the tank and also they only grow to 10cm :good:
