I have recently taken up fish keeping as a hobby and know very little compared to some people on this forum.

The reason for me starting this topic was for people to post helpful information and tips, absolutely anything will be appreciated.

At the moment i have 2 very basic setups, a 60L tank for Mollie breeding and a 160L tank with baby red tiger oscar, angel fish, pleco and a couple of tiger barbs. (I am aware that in time this will need upgrading, but it will do for now). But i dont know what the future holds with regards to what i will keep.

If you can attach a picture as an example of your information that would be most helpful, e.g names of plants get very confusing to identify for me, so a picture of the plant would be great.

they are the most hardy fish iv every kept just keep the water neutral or acidic

Stocking suitable fish your two tanks need sorting ASAP...

Mollies should reach ~10cm, 3-foot tank absolute minimum, ideally longer.

Oscar is going to need a 75 Imperial gallon tank just to be kept alone, to have a few selective tankmates needs a tank almost double.

Angelfish need 45cm (18") of actual water depth (excluding sand/gravel on tank floor and air space above water level). Does your 160l meet this requirement?

"Pleco" as in a Common or Sailfin, that reach 45-60cm and need a 5-foot minimum tank with excellent filtration?

Tiger Barbs could work in a 160l, but not as two, that will probably nip everything else in the tank. Another ten (10) would be a good start to make them concentrate on their own pecking order.

mollies reach 10cm in length are you serious?

and i know that my tank needs upgrading and when ive got the cash i will do, all the fish in the tank are only babys and are happy for the mean time i have good filtration and do my weekly water change with out fail.

And yeh sailfin pleco

Yes, I was serious, some Mollies get even bigger. You did not say which type of Molly you have so here is a generic link to several in a generally well regarded website for fish profiles...

You really need to take the oscar back to the lfs, he will grow for fun and eat any fish it can fit in it's mouth

My Lfs has huge mollies & platys in their display tank, both must be at least 4/5 inches, so yes they can grow quite large.
Next time I'm there I'll take a pic as I was surprised to see them that big
