Mai Tai, my one in a million betta, is very sick. I'm almost positive he won't make it though the night. :-( He's been sluggish for a few days now, so I've been doing more water changes and keeping an eye on him. This morning he wouldn't eat, tonight he has a white patch on his gill and is at the top gasping for air. I have treated him, and uped his temperature. But, I think it's his time. He is my starter betta, Wuv was kind enough to send him to me, and he has been the one that started my wonderful obsession. I am heartbroken. Please keep him in your thoughts and hope his passing is peaceful and without pain.

Here are a few photos of my beautiful boy:

He's a beautiful fish. I'm sure he's had a great life with you, but I still hope that somehow he manages to pull through for you.

Hi Kara! It's Ashley (binka_nugget from PT)!

I'm so sorry to hear about Mai Tai. :( He has been one of my favorite bettas. What a gorgeous guy.

Is the white patch fuzzy? If so, he could have fungal gill infection, or columnaris, both of which are treatable. Perhaps if you post pics, we could help you identify the illness, and you could treat him.

I'm very sorry to hear he is doing poorly, and I hope he pulls through. He is a LOVELY looking fish.

Sadly, as I had thought he passed during the night. Thank you for all your good wishes, I think this may be the end of more betta's for Kara, I am just crushed I couldn't save him. :-(

awww,Kara, I'm so sorry. He was with you for quite a while, and he was nearing a year old when he left here (like 9 months'ish?), and he wasn't the most active betta in the first place, that's why he never went off to show. In addition to that- you know where I got his parents and I've always felt those lines were quite overbred which may result in a shorter life span. So , it's very well possible that there was no way to save him, don't beat yourself up. I know how much you loved him though, I remember way back when you got him  , so, overall, I know he was happy to be with you

Oh no! :(
I'm so very sorry to hear that your beautiful boy passed away. It sounds like he had a very wonderful home with you, and he was clearly loved, cherished, and appreciated. May he rest in peace.
:-(

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that Kara! I'm sure he lived a great life with you, though. RIP little Mai Tai :(

poor mai tai , I just lost 2 guppies (think they were bullied by my other guppies) but he was gorgeous deffinatly my betta of the year

Bless him, R.I.P.

Sorry to hear about your Betta. But it does sound like it was his time. Nearly, two years old. That is as far as most of our fish go.
