I am very worried I have 3jack demps and 4 cons in a 75gal tank. Two of my cons have paired up and had babies. About 3 weeks have gone by and the cons have been model parents. The mom and dad would work together and keep everyone away from the young. All of a sudden the father has went crazy, he wont let anyone near the fry "including mom". He's chasing everyone away and doing this thing at the bottom of the tank, were he gets low and moves his fins real fast to kick up the sand. I don't know what to do.

i always took the father out of the breeding tank when they begin to be freeswimming. he seems to take over as the fry grow. while im not sure whether the mother is a better parent, they both will protect the fry. it would be easier if you could get the fry in a diff tank.

they will get stressed cause of the other fish... eventually they wont even care about the fry and everything should go back to normal.. at least thats what happened in my tank

Thanks for the advice, this morning the mother and father were acting normal agian. I was thinking fo buying a 10gal hospital tank anyway, I guess I better move ahead with that plan.
