Welcome to TFF! :good: What you have going on now is called a fish in cycle. We have loads of information for new fishkeepers here; http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/277264-beginners-resource-center/

If at all possible return the fish, and do a fishless cycle with ammonia. If this is not an option you will have to do large daily water changes to keep ammonia, and shortly nitrite levels down. A good liquid test kit is a wise investment, the API kit is the one most commonly found & used.

Once you decide between cycling methods we can move forward from there, it is a bit of reading in that link, but will give you a very good start!

good advice from Tolak

don;t let this put you off whatever happens but take the advice that really we need to slow down a little

I personally wouldn;t feed for a couple of days and when you do sparingly to enable the filter , water to catch up, I wouldn;t add any more fish either till everything has settled.

If you decide to keep the fish, try and get hold of some mature media (from your LFS or someone you might know with a mature tank setup) to kick start your cycle
