Platy Hiding In Plants

Thats great news fishsticks. I wouldnt worry about the green water too much as it will clear in time and when you do a water change it will improve. I am really pleased that your platy is feeling better! Well done! GRJ :good:

I haven't seen her latey because of the green water. But I catch a glimse of her now and then.

I just tested the water again and here were the results.

Nitright 0ppm
Nitrate 0ppm
PH 7.5
Ammonia 0.25 ppm

I wish my camera was working so I could show you some pictures of the tank. Is there any way to tell if it is just a bacterial bloom?

Should I do another water change tonight?

:D I just went to feed them now and she came right out of where ever she was hiding and came to eat with everyone else.

It could be a bacterial bloom, they are normally white though. I dont think ts a cause for concern as like i said, regular water changes should clear that. It is strange however that your nitrite has gone down to zero. I wold keep an eye on that as it will spike again due to the fact you have no nitrate yet, therefore you are still having to build up your ammonia eating bacteria. Just hang in there! Great news about your platy though, glad she has come through. GRJ :good:

Well she is doing much better. Whenever it is almost time for their feeding she comes out and swims with the other fish. I don't see her alot of the time because of the cloudyness. She usually stays around the one plant but isn't really hiding in it. The cloudyness has gone don a very tiny bit. Also since my last post I added some "Multi-Purpose Bio-Support". The LFS reccomended it and I figure it can't hurt.

I'm going to do more tests today.

It sounds more like an algae bloom to me than a bacterial one. They are VERY hard to get rid of(I resorted to using a plant safe algae kiler, worked wonders).

I gotta point out, about the platy - with a very pregnant female, being inactive and hiding in plants is TYPICAL BEHAVIOUR. All of mine have done that starting up to four days before they actually gave birth, and immediately back to normal a day or so later when the hormones are gone. I've read about it heaps.

Good luck with the algae. I'm lucky I don't get much. Just a tiny bit on the glass - I clean that off the front, but I leave it on the sides for the pleco to eat, she likes it.

Thanks :) She doesn't look nearly as pregnant as my other 2 females but she did look pregnant. THat is good to know because my other two look like they are going to burst!

Should I try some sort of alge remover just incase it is an alge problem?

Oh and my last set of tests I had 0.25 ppm of ammonia and zero nitrate and nitright.
