hi,

is it normal for fry to be born with colour? i have 4 been born this evening that have black on their tails.

my "male" that i bought 5weeks ago has jsut dropped more fry - i had 10 drop 24hrs after buying (i bought 2 males suposidly, but 1 is definately female.

i know with guppies they get colour as get older.

Yes, the fry are usually either pale (yellowy-cream) or dark grey/black, depending on the base colour they will have as an adult.

11 out of 14 are a yellowy-orange and 3 have black tips on tail - these 3 and 1 yellowy-orange were born this afternoon/evening.

plz tell me that they seem rlly tiny to u cause i had my platy give birth 4 days ago and they r rlly tiny like about --- big and they r colourless...except for one whose body is way darker than all the other ones..other ones were born 3 days after those so i have 9 total

I agree, it is normal for fry to be born with some colour. Some platy's can even already have dark tails or the mickey mouse ears :)

out of my 14 some of the original 10 (4weeks old) are still really small and the same size as the 4 born yesterday, yet others of the original lot are about 1-1.5cm long.
