Platty Fry

Just wondered if anyone Knows how big or old platty fry should be before I take them out of the Breeding trap.

I only have 3 in the trap as I could not catch all of them without disterbing the other fish.

Look at the size of the fry, then look at the size of the mouth on the largest fish...if the fry are are bigger than the fises mouths then they are safe.

That said...I like to keep my fry alone for as long as possible, to enable them to get as much food as possible without competition from bigger fish

Assuming that other fishes in the tank are platies only, at around 1/2 inch in size, they seem ok witht he parents. At around this size, they become bold enough to feed at the surface with the adult platies.

Maybe its just down to my paticular platies, but mine seem to leave their fry alone.

so do mine, i still have platy fry that could fit down almost every fishes mouth but not one of them is chased, bothered, or eaten by any of my fish.
