Plastic Or Real Plants?

in my 15g i just stuck my plants in the sand and its doing great and i dont have any substrate in it

be careful when shopping at pet stores for real plants as i know a few around where i live like mix semi-aquatic plants in with aquatic plants (i think im using the right terms)

Alright, so can you just stick them in gravel too? You don't have to use sand?

Ya I'm assuming idk I havent used gravel, either ways it's gonna grow cus I have a plant in a flower pot waited down by a rock and the roots are starting to grow out of the pot and it's not even in sand or gravel

Got the betta earlier today, but the pet store did not have live plants in stock for sell, so tomorrow i'm going to run over to another pet store in town and get some live plants. For now I'm using some of my old fake plants. He is not doing much right now, just kind of resting at the bottom, is that normal at first? He was swimming around a lot to begin with but then seemed to settle down.

The filter kind of blows him around and his food when I put it in. It also probably won't allow him to make a bubble nest. Should I get a new filter or something? The tank came with a filter and if I were to get a new one I'm not sure if it would fit in the tank.

I have plasitc plants, silk plants and a real one. I found the bettas love the plastic cabomba plant and plastic elodea densa. They also like little tunnels. Also for snails, buy a loach. I have 2 pakistani loaches and the snails are now gone.

Plastic plants can tear bettas fins though, so they are not advisable. Also, I'm not sure if Oscar Betta would be able to have pakistani loaches in their tank as it doesn't appear to be big enough on the vid. I do find that my betta enjoys 'tunnels' though - he hasn't got one, but I allow the hygrophila polysperma to overgrow as he loves to swim through the dense vegetation

If the filter is bothering him, I would get a new one if possible or try to baffle it. I've never baffled a filter myself though, so I'm afraid I cannot really help you very much in that field. I believe I once read how to baffle a HOB filter using a section of plastic bottle, but the tank appears to have an internal filter from what I can see, what with the hood and that

If he doesn't like a fast flow then you're better using a sponge filter

I have a Marina Slim 15 filter on my 10 gallon Betta tank. My Betta loves going under the waterfall now and again. Your Betta may get used to your filter also, once he knows what to expect, and he may actually seek it out to play in the current.

I have a tetra whisper 10i on my 5 gallon. I bring the water level up to the bottom of the waterfall. It works pretty well. the only issues I had was that when he would swim past the intake, it sucked on his fins. But I put the cave in front of the intake so he can't swim past it anymore
