Plastic And Natural - Tank Designs @ Work

From what I used I wrote off almost £150 worth of plants, not to mention the air pump and other bits of decor so yeah.. Triple/Quadruple that and voila that would be that tank

No disrespect, but that's at P@H prices. I could set up the tank with fake silk plants, heavily planted for £200 easily, just gotta know where to look.

Personally, I never got on with live plants and stick with silk. I then move them between my tanks, just to keep it fresh.

More the brand of 'Sydeco' that costs so much rather than a random assortment :p

I think they look stunning.  I think the point of this post being that plastic plants can be incorporated into a very nice design - and that has been demonstrated thoroughly.  Certainly, natural catches the eye of many of us, because we are that sort of people.  I keep natural plants because I'm cheap - and I like the challenge of growing them out and spreading them around.

But, let's get on to important business...  Did anyone else notice the dinosaur head?

The plastic plant look great but they do not provide a naturalistic sense that we TFF people want. Having plastic plants is nice but i prefer real plants so it would be better to be an advocate of naturalistic look than plastic global warming issue look. No offense really.

It's all fair to have an opinion.

I prefer natural and everything living also.
I do feel slightly like I'm being attacked for making a display tank at my place at work and being told to make it all fake ;P I didn't have a choice!

I think that many folks have missed the point of this thread.  This isn't really about which is better, plastic or natural, but to illustrate that plastic plants can be used to make a striking display.

I'm impressed with the depth you've managed with the plastic plants tank and I suspect that that's part of the attraction to them, you can create a very defined look and they'll stay put the way you want them, which you've demonstrated beautifully there by getting good layering, particularly given the slim tanks that you have to work with.

The real plants are a more limited set, but then you're not going to be able to get a high tech set up in your situation, which I suspect also demonstrates beautifully that, unless you're willing to do it properly, then you're going to have to go for a less heavily planted set up and your tank is probably a better demonstration of what most people will actually get.

Overall, nice sets.
