Apart from the huge ammonia spike for the first few weeks, I can`t fault the stuff. The water was crystal clear from the moment I filled the tank. I guess the clouding comes from shifting a lot of stems around, but I have only ever planted Eleocharis sp and HC which I have just left to their own devices.
I built up two slopes as well, both of which have stayed put. With a shallow tank like yours, I guess water changes could blow it about a little, but once the HC has carpetted it will hold it together no problem. I had to chuck my HC away when it became infested with rhizoclonium, but just recently, it has started growing from out of nowhere, bursting out through the Eleocharis. There must have been a few remnants left, but HC certainly seems to like Aqua Soil once it is established.
