Planted Nano - First Time With The Green Stuff

I have just moved my Vietnamese Cardinals and Pygmy Corys into their new home. The Cardinals seem to like the plants and look so much more colourful now than they did in their old tank. Oh and I upped the dose of TPN+ to 2ml today.

I was just looking at getting another Fluval 11w light to add to the one I have already got, but whilst looking on ebay I saw a Boyu T5 light unit. It was the 3 x 8w model. The only reservation I have is will the legs fit a 30cm wide tank? It only gives the maximum tank width, not the minimum. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Hmmm liking this mate, no exp with that lighting but if I were you I'd grab a couple more pots of Helferi, it takes an age to fill in a carpet trust me lol.

Thanks for that. I decided to buy one of those over the tank light units as it was actually cheaper than another Fluval 11w. I will let you know if it is any good when it arrives later this week. I am just hoping that 24w (3wpg) will not be too much. I will also bob down to the LFS after work and get some more Helferi...

The new light unit arrived today (24w T5's). It is made of aluminium and is well built and looks good. The leg brackets are not quite as good as I thought, but for the price of it is was well worth it. The bulbs supplied are two yellowish white like a kitchen lol and one blue. I did not want a blue on and the light from the white ones was starting to annoy me I popped down to p@h and bought three Interpet tropical and plant bulbs and replaced them all. Much better now :good:. My black sticky back plastic has also arrived for the background so I will get that on this week when I have the time. I will get some new pics up at weekend once I get some more helferi in (LFS have ran out until weekend).

If you are allowed to post ebay links on here, then here it is:

It was the only one I could find (of its kind) in the UK. Like I say the standard bulbs are not so good but these Interpet ones look the job.

I had the lid off for two hours coming up with a solution to fit the glass lid with the overhead light and one of my Vietnamese Cardinals decided to do a suicide mission and jump out. When I noticed, it had long dried out :( I have not lost a fish for ages and am pretty upset as they are gorgeous.
