I bought this tank last April and chucked some sand, plants and wood in like so:

Time passed, fish and plants came and went, CO2 and pebbles arrived and this is where it's at now (the sand is still yellow, by the way - the white balance on my camera is a bit off):

Nice and messy :D Where it goes from here I'm not quite sure. There was only ever a vague plan - tall plants on the right, shorter plants on the left - but now it's pretty much doing it's own thing, with a bit of hacking back from time to time.

The specs are:

110 litres
2x18w T8 lamps
2 x Eheim Aquaball 130 (I remove the left hand side one for photos)
Koralia nano 900
DIY CO2 at 30 bubbles per minute
Substrate = JBL Aquabasis capped with Senegal sand
Ferts = EI dosing

Fauna:

Neon tetra
Harlequin and Espei rasbora
Assorted corys
Red Cherry Shrimp
Nerite snails

Flora:
Anubias barteri and Petite
Crypts
Dwarf Sagittaria
Narrow leaf Java Fern
Weeping Moss
Christmas Moss (kindly donated by minnnt)
Limnophila sessiliflora
Hygrophila Rosanervig
Madagascar Lace plant (needs to go - too big)
Nymphaea rubra
Alternanthera reineckii Purple
Elodea
Ceratophyllum
Bacopa australis

So there it is. Comments and suggestions always welcome! :D

Great tank! Get it in TTOM I am sure it would win!

It's such a change and improvement from the first picture. Very talanted indeed! Nice list of plants also. Feel free to post me the lace plant. :hey: and don't forget you will be able to add the Amicorum to the list net week. :D

Thanks, Westwood :D Not quite sure I'm up to that standard yet, but one of these days...

Love the tank in your sig, btw! :D

Thanks, minnnt! B-)

The glosso shot is from the other tank actually (have to wait for that one!) but I do have a whopper of a cory shot I can post - I'll see if I can find it.

I think the lace plant might be failing  I can send you what's left of it if you like

I will defo add the amicorum...not sure quite where I'm going to put it yet, mind you. I'll need a shoehorn soon

Edit: found the cory pic:

They're the only fish I can take pics of 'cos they're the only ones that stay still while I fiddle with my camera settings

The Crypt amicorum arrived today - thanks minnnt! :D

Will try and get it planted later when I've recovered from the excitement of this morning...new filter! :hyper:

I'm finally ditching the internals (though I'll keep them for spare, just in case) and installing an external, the JBLe700. I haven't been keen to do this because for one thing the tank is on a sideboard so the filter will have to sit on the floor next to it rather than being neatly hidden in a cabinet, and for another, I never fancied water travelling outside the tank because of possible leakage :/ .

What swung it in the end is that my internals - good though they are - just couldn't cope with the amount of organic waste, and I was having to clean them twice a week sometimes, or the flow was practically non-existent. I'm already making things hard for myself by running yeast CO2, so I really need much more stable flow and filtration unless I want the tank to be Staghorn hell.

Anyway, if nothing else it's great not to have two ugly filters in the tank, and it gives my fishies more swimming space too :D

I've turned off the powerhead for now to see how things go, and I'll update this thread when things have settled down and I can assess the change. :)

Now, if I can find a way to "lose" that very obvious silver heater, I'll be even happier...

I though it looked good at first but when i saw the second picture and saw how much it had improved i was like Whooo. Your tank is looking steak sauce (A1)
