Planned Fry Journal Just For Fun :)

Awe

I hope ya find her and she is alright.

Odd question, but have you used your fish net recently? Could it be possible you accidentally picked her up in the net? :( I did that with one of my tetra before just glad I fought it before I did serious damage to him

Aww that's horrible but at least you found him before it was too late.
I hate the feeling of not knowing what state she is going to be in. I used to have snails and if a fish died, you just found the skeleton.
I used the net yesterday to get the rasboras, and she was still in the tank after that. She was the first one to rest when the lights went off as well last night. I should have kept her in the separate tank, she was obviously too young to have fry but I didn't have the tank then.
She isn't behind the plants, she isn't under the wood. I think there's still a few Malaysian trumpet snails in there but she can't have disappeared so quickly could she?

EDIT

I have found her under the slate.

AHHH! What a set back. Don't let it discourage you too much. I guess a locked cabinet is needed for the fish food now?!

I guess that female was just too young. I only bought her because she didn't have fry before so would bear my black males fry.
I had put the fry food up on the mantel she decided to move the chair climb up and get it! It's obviously not high enough. I have put it in the kitchen cupboard lol.

The siphon is your friend!

My siphon is very sorry looking with plumbers tape wrapped around it

They are getting big quick

I know, I am still shocked at how much they have benefited from their own tank. They have started to bicker too like all siblings do lol. I hope they start to colour up soon. That usually takes ages.

It does. I remember the first fry I had, I was so disappointed at how they looked then all the sudden COLOR!

Sorry to hear about your young female.  Maybe she had complications.

My second batch of platy fry are starting to colour up already, they are only about a week or two old.  I already have two survivors from the previous batch (my first ever fry) about a month and a half old who have now grown into miniature little copies of their mother.  Now I think there's three more from this latest batch.  Maybe platies colour up quicker than guppies.

I love when they start colouring up! I don't usually get a lot of fry growing into adulthood. I will see if I can get some frozen food for them. I heard that helps with the colour. I can't seem to find baby brine shrimp anywhere other than online.

Congrats Daize! Yes they do. When I had platies, I had fry and they were born orange! they had brilliant colour from when they were born.
Both batches of fry I have are from blonde females who were pregnant when I got them so they are all white. I remember one of my previous batches last year, they were born grey with black smudges on their tails and bodies. They grew up to have endler like markings.

My half black female is looking rather square today. I don't know if I should move her into the fry tank and move some of the bigger fry into the main tank.  It's the black babies I was hoping for so I want to save as many as I can. What do you think I should do?

I'd do the move just to be on the safe side. Based on our pictures the fry look larger enough to fend for themselves in the main tank.

Thanks for the advice. It's the platies i'm worried about in the main tank and the smaller ones in the fry tank lol. I don't want to put her in too early or the flipside,  too late. She looks about maybe 3 weeks but it's not as if i'm moving her into a breeding trap, it's a 30L tank which will be adequate-this is my justifying the move now lol. She wont be too cramped will she?

If she births in a few days then I don't think it's too cramped but if she's in there a week or more then I do...
