They are similar to otocinclus in a lot of ways, prefer to be in groups, would be fine with a bristlenose plec in a big enough tank.

I was desperately looking for pit bull plecos. I saw 2 once at my LFS. I left them and went back to get them the next day they were gone. OH I WAS SO MAD. I ask them to order some more for me. They were like yeah I will order you a cool red tail pleco/ rusty pleco. I was like NO I want the pit bull pleco. He ordered the redtail pleco. I sounded like a brat. YEAH RIGHT!!! That was a one time thing. I have never seen them since. SO I gave up trying to find them and got a BN. Who I love.

The pit bull plecos. Only get 2 inchs, They do well is groups of 3 or more but can be kept alone. They are great little workers. Very peaceful and will not bother any other fish. Yes they can be bred in Captivity when conditions are just right. Some say breeding them is similar to breeding Cory cats. They are great in planted tanks. They like tanks that have sand because when they are scared they like to bury them selves.

I did a lot of research on these guys. I'm still waiting to get some. If I ever see one again I will not think twice about buying them. They are little gems. I look all the time at that same store with no luck.

I have even looked into ordering them but can't find a good source.

It depends on the store. On one site I found had whole sale prices and wholesale they are only $3.00. BUT the pet store is going to charge more because they are a bit hard to find. I think the ones I saw were like $5 or $6 each.

If you can find them don't pass them up you will be kicking your self if you do.

they are common round here, every lfs has them. and they are cheap. the red tailed catfish is in my pic, but it may be diff to a RT pleco.
