Piranha Free To Good Home

most lfs wont have the facilitys to take a piranha its not an easy thing to do so truck stop flaming all the time. and truck do you really think an lfs with a big shop display tank would want a piranha in there?

to the op maybe you may have to ring a specialist shop, or maybe i believe there is a monster fish rehomer i dunno where it is based though they may even pick up fish..... there like the rspca of the fish world.

and yes i agree with the most people who want pirahnas want it as a show off look what i have fish amount of "chavs" i get asking for piranhas and wanting to put them in hideously small tanks with no filtration is shocking.

im not flaming, im making sure this fish gets the best possible home, thats why i suggest ringing a reputable LFS because i know mine would take a red bellied pacu

God give the guy a break sounds like he is doing the best he can,
and the fish is a Piranha Not a pacu and is looking to be fully grown

edit: how far are you from Marwell Zoo ? I've just googled them and they have a South American Setup and a huge Piranha tank

im sorry but im with truck on this one :friends: :big_boss:

this fish should not be killed.

seems to me that if the op really didnt care this fish would of been hammered or flushed by now.

least there trying and ringing and keeping hold of the fish untill a sutible home is found.

its not looking promising though, as you say there a specific big fish that can only be on its own now.

mate marwell is local but places like that and all other places do not take animals fish etc in, due to risks of infections etc they source there own stock, its the same story you here everywere. its easy to say oh try blah blah they will take it, its simply not the case

new reality check id like to see you try and get rid of a big pirahna its not that easy.

just keep pestering people apples the only way i can possibly seeing a shop take it is if they have an ordser for one come in.

you need to state what size tank he will need for when he is fully grown as ive heard of phiranas getting bigger than this

12" is max for a nattereri, looks like a tank bred so its proberly maxed out now at 10" but 12" is still possible.

Join up on this forum, you might have more luck finding it a home there.
Im on there frequently so I'll help out as much as I can :good:

Any LFS around here would take him cos they sell them for about £40 when they are fully grown, hell Taunton Aquarium Center took my two adult Oscars (around 14") for free a few years ago as they 'couldnt sell them' then had them advertised for £40 each the next day! lol so cheeky its funny.

FINGERS CROSSED I THINK HE HAS A HOME :)
