Wifey just started buying whole pineapples. It got me thinking as she was cutting one up this morning if they would be OK to put a pineapple slice in the fish tank for the plecos and balas. I did some searching online and found nothing which leads me to believe it is probably not a good thing to put in a tank.

Anyone every try pineapple in a tank or know of reasons why not to?

Thanks!

I always think it is worth trying something like that. I always try to pop in a chunk of whatever fresh fruit or veggie I'm eating for the fish. The only drawbacks would be 1) make sure they are washed well so that any pesticide or weed killer on them is as cleaned off as possible and 2) don't let the fruit or veggie sit in the tank too long and disintegrate and get all over the tank. Other than that, I always find it interesting what the fish will and won't eat.
