As some of you know...I have been after the elusive piedbald ACF for some time - the rarest color morph of any species of ACF...well by this time tomorrow I will own one!!!

They occur less than 8 per million - are an abnormality that occurs beyond breeder's control - - mating 2 piedbalds together will result in natural/marbled offspring.

It morphed with only one eye so is not considered as "desirable", but with only 3 other people known in the USA to have one I am quite excited!

Right now I have (all x. laevis unless noted otherwise)
2 marbled (1 male 1 female)
4 albino (2 male 2 female - 1 of the males is a runt, full grown at 1.75-2 inches so can not live in the colony)
2 reticulated albino (1 male 1 female)
1 x. borealis female

Tomorrow I have coming in -
1 x. borealis male
1 x. tropicalis female to be a friend to the runt albino
and....drum roll!
1 PIEDBALD x. laevis

not sure what it looks like on a frog but I;dlove a piebald royal python!

basically it looks like a black frog that someone splattered white paint on...others have said it looks somewhat like a dalmatian - - each one's black/white pattern is unique :hyper:

and it is an occurrence that cannot be controlled so when ever one pops up it is worth big bucks!

thanks noodle!!! only a couple hours now!!!!!!!

they are out for delivery!!! so excited!!!

The last 3 photos look light a right solid beastie :).

The piedbald is good :). I see his dodgy eye and it's not bad at all is it really!

A question for my curiosity; do you keep them all in the same tank? As for breeding do you remove them or leave them to it in the main tank? (basically wondering if all your species could cross breed?)

That's awesome! What a great find, they all look healthy and happy.

10 out of my 12 frogs are housed in my 72 gallon.
In the 72G...8 are x.laevis (standard acf ) and 2 are x.borealis. I do move them into specifically set up 10 gallons for breeding. X.laevis and x.borealis *could* breed with about a 20% success rate.

In another 10G I have a runt x.laevis housed with a x.tropicalis. these species cannot breed together.

In the 72G I dissuade breeding by keeping the temp raised to mid 70*s F. For breeding I lower the temp to mid 60*s F.
