Pictus

hi there

will be setting up an odd-ball 48x15x18 end of the month

considering rope fishx3, butterfly fishx2 and marbled bichir 1 or 2 (max size 10")

how about a few Pictus?

my tap water is hard and pH 7.8, i read that ideally Pictus should be in water pH of 6.5-7.0, how critical is this? and considering the tank mates, shall i go for Pictus? thanks

The pH is not a problem - I kept mine in varying pH (depending on season / time of year) an anything between 7.6 - 8.4
As for tank mates I don't have a clue - so best check that out.

Sounds fine to me, I would go for maybe 4 pictus, then maybe finish the tank off with a nice plec!
