So I was browsing the marketplace yesterday and came upon an ad for free fish tanks. I, of course, hopped on it. Just got home after picking it up and setting it up. It turns out, she still had the fish, but would have no tanknonce I left with the last one. She offered the fish as well. I couldn't say no, since they were just sitting in ziplock bags on her back porch (about 55°F).
So now I have a 37 gallon tank, 2 filters, a heater, some unknown plants, some livebearers, a betta (who got torn up by her pea puffer she had in there for a week), a blue mystery snail, 2 otos, and 2 dwarf frogs.

I put my other free fish I received from a friend into the 37 with them. I kept 2 handfuls of the original plant stratum and gravel mix to out in the tank, as well as a couple cups of sand from my other tanks to go with the fresh sand.
It turns out that one of the bags had a leak, so I got fish water all over my new car (used new, just picked it up friday). Then all of the livebearers got stuck in the same sandwich bag (about 8).

After qt, the otos will go in with the others in my 29 gallon. The Dwarf frogs will be going to the lfs, and so will most of the live bearers. I will likely got credit for them all. Not bad for an hours drive and $10 in gas.

The frogs are kinda cute though. I might keep them in a 10 gallon once I get rid of my skirt tetra.

The tank was much heavier than my 29 gallon or 30. Must have weighed 50 lbs, I had to carry it down 2 fleights of wet outdoor stairs and down the block to my car. I just about died. The glass is a lot thicker, though. I like that is has black seals, that is just complete cool factor.

The plants appear to consist of anubias, crypts, vallis at the back?, hornwart, maybe some hygophillas. When they are spread out it will be easier to id them.

The extra weight of the tank would be from the thicker glass used due to the height of the tank. When they go 2 feet high, they increase the glass to 10mm thick. If the tank is big and doesn't have support strips on top, they might go to 12mm thick glass, which weighs even more.

No wonder I thought my heart would burst. Just eyeballing it, I would say the tank is about 30" long, 16" wide, 22-24" tall. It is as deep as my 80 or 90 gallons.

Facebook marketplace? Just go to your regular Facebook homepage and it pops up at the top, looks like a little store icon on mobile. I just sear aquarium in the search bar, see what pops up. It is sorted from closest to furthest. I ended up driving an hour there and back.
