Photography Skills

it good mate, its started to extend at night so now its training time.

funnily enough i have my digital microscope to take photo's with, its just getting it rigged up

Wooooooo!! Hold on - a day at work and i've missed more arguing on here.

HappyGeorge I'd love to see that write up, please ignore anyone who's against. If you dont want to read it then don't.

There's a lot of people that do.

:thanks: HG for taking the time to do a write up for us!

I dont think posts like this help. No one suggested he shouldnt, especially me. Also, there is no arguement. It is an excellent idea. I just think people need to stop with the divide and without trying to be rude I think it is posts like yours which cause this.

I would love to see a new fresh/updated guide as I would love to take better snaps of my tank. Would be good for all, whether newbies or experienced snappers looking to imrove, or FW and SW.

Just my view.

EDIT: Someone suggested to alter current one, my mistake.

EDIT. im not even going to entertain this. I did but I dont want to continue. I dont appreciate your comments, I haven't been rude or commented about sw vs fw at all.

It's a shame but this forum is putting me off posting at the moment because of hostile people on it.

I am not being rude to you either. I read your post before the edit. From your response I apoligise, the red part of the quote is the bit meant. I went with the assumption that you were aiming these comments at the more focused FW members and for that I apologise. I dont wish to argue with people, especially on the internet. I have better things to do with my time and the reason I come on here is to gain and pass on knowledge.

My posts were aimed to reduce the negatively that FW has to SW and the other way round. This thread should not make you not want to post, this is a mere discussion that maybe some people have taken things out of context, me included. I am a big enough person to realise this and apologise.

Cheers

i believe that maybe this has strayed a bit from its intended course and in the intrest of civility maybe the direction of the thread should be taken back to its original topic.

I agree, I hope we can all move on. Again, I think it would be great to see a new or improved thread on how to take photos of tanks/fish. I would definetely use it as it is something I would love to be better at.

On a side note: HG, I apoligise for this going completely off topic. If you feel that there needs to be a new one, go for it. I am sure a lot of people, myself included would appreciate it.

Ok as the OP let me put this to bed then and we can all kiss and make up (no tongues). I will admit to being a bit miffed that my offer was so strangely received by some when many had already expressed their interest.

I did some time ago write a guide for another section on this forum and it disappeared along with the person who requested it and was supposedly interested in setting up a resource centre, unfortunately my Laptop folded at a similar time and I was unable to recover the article I wrote, hence my bad experience and wanting to trust it to the Salties already involved in the development of the forum.

My idea was purely to get one as part of the resource unit and what had started as a genuine offer from me to give up my time to pass on some useful tips became strangely twisted. I never slated the FW side and if it looks like I did at anytime then I apologise, but that being said I am not interested in getting involved in the Photographic part of the forum or reading anything on there, I like taking pictures, sharing pictures and teaching others but I have no real interest in fish photography per se. I also don't think as many people would read that as a sticky at the top of the relevant section be it SW or FW.

I have had PM's from a number of people giving their support and asking me not to be put off by the negative comments on here and for that I thank you.

I will do the guide, those that want it can have it Pm'd and if anyone else thinks its any good then it can be distributed wherever it may be useful. Oh and I'm not going to look at this topic again, so if you have anything particularly pleasant/unpleasant to say then you will have to PM me, or if it's unpleasant feel free to skip the PM bit and go and set fire to your head :good:

Edit - P.S I love you all (those I don't will be contacted in due course :ninja: )

HG, your little speeches are scary!

Remind me not to let you do a speech at a wedding!

On a serious note. This topic and the nemo one is getting very tired with people who seem to be getting a little snappy with each other (you know who you are).
At the end of the day this is a family forum where new guys and girls come on here who are a bit nervous asking questions and
seeing the above posts will only deter them and send them off to another forum. some of the posts are immature in my opinion.

I think the next moderator to see the nemo topic should remove the complete topic apart from the first question and first reasonable answer and lock it as the negativity seems to be spreading to this topic as well.

If any of you have a problem with what I have stated above then tuff!

Now that we have all moved on. What kind of topics will you be including in the guide? This interests me as my camera skills are shocking and I get confused about all the different settings you can change. Maybe include a bit thats says what each thing is and what it does? ie, macro, white balance, ISO???

Hope that makes sense.

They're all explained in this topic, James.

Thanks, I just had a read of that. Was interested to see what HG was going to include. What were the points you say that were missing?

Cheers
