I'm considering adding one or two female kribs to my community tank which has a PH of around 7.6 . I know that they prefer acidic water but I was wondering if anyone is keeping kribs with a relatively high PH?

Any general comments on kribs as a community fish? I will only be keeping females as to avoid any mating disputes. My 80 gallon tank has lots of rock, caves, and plants for hiding. The current residents are harlequins, neons, gouramis, black skirt tetras, julii corys and a yoyo loach.

Squimps.....

You should ok with Kribs. They are fairly tolerant of water conditions, they will get a long in a community tank as long as there are plenty of hidey holes for them. They are terratorial but no that agressive with it. As long as they is plenty of room you should be fine.....

HTH.... :D

I've had a male krib in my community tank for a good while now, and he is generally pretty well-behaved. He chases the (dwarf) gouramis away from the sinking wafers, but outside of that, no real aggression that I have seen. I also have black skirt tetras and cory cats. The tetras are seldom in the same part of the tank as him and he lets the cory cats eat all they want. Oh, and my pH is high, too, about 7.6. I think mine was bred and raised in high pH water. That is what the lfs water tested at that he came in, anyway, same as mine, and he had been there for at least a month or more -- I watched them grow. I think pH becomes an issue where fry are concerned, and that shouldn't concern you. Have fun! I love my kribs, they're neat fish.

Thanks, you guys. That's all good info. I think I'll go for it.
