With 3 terriers I have to keep fish food up high. Little varmints will climb as well! 
I have an entourage when it's fish feeding time, some always hits the floor.
I had the same thing happen years back OM, dog wedged behind a 72 gallon, pulled a bag with a few pounds of color flake out from the back & the feast was on. She colored up nicely.
