Pets At Home

The Pets at Home in Lincoln wasn't too bad last time I went in... but I think they've stopped selling fish now.

I visit Pets At Home in Lincoln, and the one I go to still sells fish (although there may be more than one shop), and they always seem to have alot of dead fish.. never buy from them anymore.

the one I went to was in lincoln and it sold fish obviously!cant remember what it was called.Carlton estate???????

yeah they have 2 stores in lincoln, the bigger one has more species but the smaller one there is always some one in there who knows about the fish they keep, one guy is real good knows alot about the fish (i always request him to test him knowlage and he never fails :D good thing)

I went to the stockport one today and it seems its changes managers as I have never seen the tanks so nice. the bettas are in a tank bext door buck one to one another. the neons arnt in with angels and the cichlids have a huge tank of there own.. and its all changed round.. its so neat and tidy. i would now buy fish from there. the cichlids well the malawi mix like the yellow labs are £6.49 so I might get my first batch from there. I never thought I would ever say i would buy fish from there.

When I fist got into fish I thought Pets at Home looked really good however after finding the professional fish expert stores I would not go near them with a barge pole.

Funnily enough Clare, I was there yesterday too! At about 2:30 till 3 then for a second round at 3:30 when I didnt find what I was after at south manchester aquatics :p
I was going to say exactly the same thing, I only spotted three floaters and all in all the store looked very very clean, I've never been impressed by a petsathome before but I have to say I couldnt really fault the Stockport one yesterday, nice cheap glass tanks too! (damn MTS...)

the pets at home i went to in Harlow Essex about a year ago was horrific
the tanks were all grubby and dark

the one in Letchworth Herts is ok, far from perfect, but ok, not too many deadies, some weird mixes in their quarantine tanks though.

hi everyone,
i live in lincoln,my nearest branch of pets at home is tritton road, the biggest of the two,i go to buy my parrot food there,i never buy fish from them, six people i know with tropicals wont either, those who have had nothing but trouble will fish dying ect,
i went in to get parrot food last week, the goldfish were not for sale under going treatment,i looked in and saw one nose down trying to swim with what was left of its tail, well it didnt have one where it should of been was a stump of white flesh wiggling about  ,i know of the guy who knows his fish but he was still happy to serve the people from the next tank along.now i go to perrys at dunholme.

Pfft... I work in another aquatics store jkrekord I was only in Pets@home because we didnt have the tank size I needed in a hurry!

No matter how good it looked yesterday I only get my fish from my own shop, as I know every tiny detail of when they arrived and how they were cared for since ;) A pretty lucky situation really!

The only other LFS than my own that I recommend to people is Oasis in Salford, which is pure quality ;)

We were there at the same time.. wow, we had a dog with us and a push chair with a baby haha. we did sit in the cafe for a while though.. its good to see a good store, then after that we went to South Manchester Aquatics. be it that we walk from Cheadle Heath to both it took us a while. we just went to price Cichlids up.

Iv heard of that Oasis.. never been though,.

I've decided to send a complaint due to the fact that the last time i went there were more dead fish in the tanks than usual.

If there is anyone who goes to the pets at home in Wigan would like me to add anything just post it here :)

Send that complaint Pieman,send it.

Personally i dont like these `pet stores` as they tend to keep pets of varying guises,i much prefer to use fish specialist. One such place is Pier Aquatics which is just around the corner from Pets at Home.

I've recently discovered that place and I think I might go down this weekend, but I still think that these chain stores should have good quality fish, even if i'm going to go to a different shop :)
