The PetsMart in my area keeps their aquariums in disgustingly poor condition. I will not buy another fish from them. In fact, it makes me so sad to see how poorly the fish are treated, that I hate to buy ANYTHING from them. Petco is bad too, but not as bad. My favorite fish store is just that ... a fish store ... and it's worth the 1 hour drive.

we dont have a pets smart here in Alabama, but the walmarts locally do a decent job, I usually end up educating the people that buy the 10 gallon aquarium with a bag of 30 fish, half gold fish and neons and ciclids going in that tank. They usually look at me like I am an idiot and think you just put water in the tank the the fish live...
We do have excellent fish stores here overall, there is one LFS that has excellent quality , but his prices are steep, so i only go to him for the specialty fish that if i know I am going to buy some rarer type fish, like cardinal tetras are slightly rares and the Cory Rasboras(some call them pygmies, they are cool looking) I found a new store last night I bought some plants there and will try them out when it comes time for some cory's and to add to my neons....already added 2 this week no need to keep adding LOL(not yet anyways )
