I swear, what the heck is up with pets wanting to pee all over your bed!!! Grrrr.. it's so gross and just so BLEH b/c you can't clean it very well since it soaks in.

Twice before, one of our cats has peed on the bed, so now she's never allowed on it again. We had to deal with our room smelling like vinegar since I soaked the spots when she did it.

THEN when we got Cid... he peed on the bed once. Of course it was gross, but he was still very young so we just thought of it as him not being able to hold it or getting too excited or whatever.
Well tonight, his lil butt decides to pee all over the bed with me laying on it! He did it behind my back. I was laying on it at the foot of the bed watching tv, feel him crawl over my legs soaking wet and I just knew what happened.
Turn around and there is a HUGE puddle of PP.
He's almost 6months old now so he'll be getting fixed soon. Totally think this was him marking his spot b/c he sits at the edge of the bed when he wants off to go outside.
Anyways.. I know ppl don't agree with it, but I put his nose right in it and popped him once on his butt... then gave him a bath as fiance cleaned it up.

Anyways.. blahblahblah... Cid enjoyed his bath and started playing in the water so I couldn't stay mad at him for long  Just frustrating that these lil buggers wanna pee all over where we sleep.

My sympathies! I know the feeling. And once they do it, it's so hard to stop! I almost threw away my very expensive down duvet, but then decided to take it to the dry cleaners just in case they could save it - and thank goodness they did.
My cats were banned from the room for ages to make sure they behave.
But it's all good now.

Yep ti does suck, not to hijackl the tread but I have a 6 mo. old female pit (named Lady), that went on my bed three times. She is potty trained and I can never seem to catch her. I have just been keeping her out of my room. How can I stop her? She will be spayed in a few weeks, will this help?

we had a prob with that before and found making sure the area is thoroughly cleaned as they smell their own wee from before and mark on top of it..our cats used to do that then we had a blitz and bleached any area near or around it and carpet shampoo'ed etc and it stopped them..so as bloo sid maybe hot wash and dry clean the quilt so no trace remains may help ???

 Sorry, just had to laugh. It is the laugh of experience, though. My friends' Frenchie would pee on her bed, and Cici's gone on the bed like 3 times since I had her, but then she just stopped. She really stopped once she started to sleep on the bed. Dogs don't really like to go where they sleep, so now that she sleeps there too, no more peeing. If she gets too hot, she'll go sleep in her crate. Sometimes an unwanted bath is the best punishment for peeing. Unfortunately, Cid enjoyed it.

I have never had a cat pee on the bed, that's just wierd. It kind of doesn't go with how they use the rest room, there's nothing to cover up the urine with. I absolutely cannot stand the smell of cat waste, makes me queasy  , so I'm really obsessive about the 3 litter boxes I have, planning to get a fourth, which I'm sure prevents accidents like that from happening. I swear, the cats have more bathrooms than the humans do in my house. Not that you're not careful with your litter box, perhaps the cat was sick or p***off or something.

My sympothies. How old is Cid now? Like 5 months maybe a little less? He he he, the terrible twos of puppydom will happen soon! They stop being adorable babies and become little demon dogs. Guard your prized posessions well (shoes, toilet paper, trash, wood, plastic, cords, well basically anything really). I find that a slight tap on the tip of the nose followed by a firm "no" really works well. They really hate it, noses are super sensative, but it doesn't hurt like the butt pop, which I really don't like using. Now, all I have to do is go through the motion or just say "no" and she'll stop the behavior.

llj :)

I don't know why he peed on the bed b/c he does sleep on it with us! And he did in fact pee right on the spot where he usually sleeps.
All I could figure is that he was just marking his spot or something *shrugs*
He's not sick though.... *shrugs*

I dunno... we're still letting him sleep with us and he's been just fine.
I've been hesitant to let him on the bed when I'm watching tv though unless he's SUPER tired so I know he'll just plop down and sleep :p

And and as for the cat peeing on the bed... no idea why she did it either. She's been fixed for quite some time now.. maybe she was just mad at us or something.. who knows. She's totally banned from getting on the bed now though, just can't trust her anymore.
Our other cat however has been perfect though.

Why don't you people who get this problem just make the bedroom a no-go area for pets/animals and close the door to it?
I mean, each to their own u'know, but i wouldn't want to have animal/cat hair and pee and stuff in my bedroom, let alone on the bed.

I'm of the opinion that dogs don't make mistakes, owners do. I've made mistakes with every dog I've ever owned, they have all eliminated in an inappropriate areas due to my inattentaveness. With a pup our bed is a 5 minute play area after the pup has been outside and completely emptied his bowl & bladder. I don't remember ever having any of my dogs on the bed for a longer amount of time until they were around 8 months old, and potty trained. Any other way is a disaster waiting to happen.

There are some good enzyme cleaners on the market that will biologically neuteralize the urine smell, Nature's Miracle is one of the better known ones. This is a good product to have on hand, as owners can't be on the ball 100% of the time. A regular feeding schedule, with well timed outings for elimination, along with a crate for when the pup can't be directly observed are what has worked with my dogs for many years.

We don't leave our BR door open so our pets can wander in and out as they please.
They're only allowed in if we're in the room with them.
Our 2 other dogs aren't allowed on the bed anymore b/c of the fleas. They can rest on the floor though in the room.
The 1 cat that peed on the bed, was allowed on the bed when we were there, but since she decided to use our bed as a toilet, nope.. she's not allowed either.
Our other cat can still come on the bed if he wants to though since he's never had any accidents anywhere in the house.
Cid is allowed on the bed b/c I wanted a dog that will sleep with us. His accidents are forgivable though since he's still a puppy :)
It's just that now I'm going to watch him a bit more to make sure there aren't any more accidents :p

We got some sort of enzyme cleaner from petsmart... It's not nature's way, but some other one that smells like apples. It smells really good heh.. We're almost out of it though since we use it on his accidents around the house.

Our puppies can't get up on my mom and dad's bed yet, it is too high, but they sleep in their room on their comforters on the floor. They do go up after they have gone to the bathroom in the morning to sleep in with my father and have never had accidents.

Unlike Tolak, we let our pups have time to roam the house on their own, they are not always directly observed. We get them used to being alone, one dog we had for 13 years (that passed last october) he was with my mother all the time when he was apup, and as a result suffered separation anxiety when she wasn't around. The two pups we have now are on their own upstairs in the house or in the backyard for a short time (about half an hour or so) throughout the day, and they are very well adjusted. We don't crate our dogs.

As for the peeing on the bed, I heard that with pups it is the softness under their feet that reminds them of grass. whether or not this is true or not, i don't know, but i hope Cid doesn't pee there anymore lol

Oh I should also add that our bed is also very high up off the ground, so Cid just can't jump up onto it whenever we let him into the room. We have to pick him up and put him on, and will most probably always have to do this heh
