Pet Names

Mac the Jack Russell Terrier. BF wanted to call him Jack but I refused so I settles on a rhyming name, Mac!!!

Gizmo the cat. She liked BF from day 1 and he is a big gadget/gizmo addict.

Rufus the female cockatoo. We got her when she was 4 years old and she allready yelled her name so we didn't have the heart to change it.

Jessie my dearly departed corgi. My fave song when we got her was "Dear Jessie" by Madonna. It kinda fit her!!!

Sunny & JoJo - when I was little we had a springer spaniel and a cocker spaniel, not sure why those names.

JR & Sue-Ellen - Budgies we had ages ago, named after the Dallas characters - Sue-Ellen was an evil cow....just like ours!

Charlie & Doris - Our two lovebirds who died while I was at secondary school, Charlie was eggbound, and Doris died not long after. No idea why these names.

Beauty & Beast - When we kept an aviary, I had two diamondback doves, guess I was going through a disney phase by the looks of the names

Snowy & Sammy - Mine and my brothers rabbits about 10 yrs ago. Snowy ran away to live with the harem of rabbits across the road....

Snoopy - My grandparents white boxer when I was an ickle one, soft as could be, she wouldn't leave our side.

Prince - My Dads brindle boxer when I was ickle.

Luna - My hamster who had many many babies!! She wasn't afraid of anything, I would be lying on the sofa in my room, the dog would lie next to me, and Luna would crawl on top of the dog and bury into some of her fur. She was a darling!

Levi, Angel, Rocky, and some others I don't remember - Hamster babies

Tess - Our current white boxer - soppy as can be.

Thomas - Our cat at my Mums house

Ozzy - My cat, born in Sept 2002, named while I was mad about Ozzy Osbourne!

All these names are great!

I'll start with a few that are waiting for me in heaven -

Luvvy - She was the dog my parents had when I was born. She was an English Setter and the daughter of Lancer, the dog that used to be on the Kal-Can cans. The breeder named her Lady Lancer's Love. They were going to keep her and show her, but she was stone deaf so they gave her to my parents. Such a sweet girl though.

Kodi - My dog. Full name Kodiak Bear, for no good reason. Not to play favorites, but he was my favorite.

Black Kitty- Came with the name from some friends that could no longer keep him. Amazingly enough he was a black cat, so we always said it was his Indian name.

Now for the animals currently testing my sanity -

Chloe - Black Lab mix that came with my husband - he likes the girls to have pretty names.

Daisy - Black Lab. When she was a puppy she used to suddenly tear around the house and we called this "getting the crazies" - so she was Crazy Daisy.

Vincent and Jules- My new Dwarf Gourami's. From "Pulp Fiction".

I don't have that many animals but eitherway...

Simba: A DSH who use to look a lot like Simba from the Lion King when he was little. My brother named him and it just stuck to him. (It's kitty on avatar)

Sky: Wasnt my idea. She came from a shelter. I'm guessing it's from her sky blue eyes though. I would've probably named her Nala so it would go with Simba :p She's a Siamese calico.

And Betta: Not his name...it's a male betta but I haven't been able to think of a good name for him yet. He's red and not sure what type he is.

Precious- My lone survivor...male kitty :) I don't think he's bothered by the name

Duchess- She had a snooty attitude

Chipper- Loved cat nip :hyper:

Smokey- Gray colored :D

Mittens- Polydactyl so his paws looked like mittens

Those were all of my kitties...the last four were most likely eaten by owls or coyotes :-(

Buster- blue heeler...much gordo...bro named him

Stubby- had a short tail...Buster's son...Buster led him off in the hills...Buster came back up....Stubby didn't :-(

Fish....

Jay & Silent Bob- cuz I bought them together....one was skinny the other was fat

rico suave- sexy sexy betta ;)

Touch & touch touch- these were my gouramis....and they were SOO cute...:( they would touch the other fish with their feelers (although my brother always corrects me and tells me they are their organs)

Never named any of my other fish :dunno:

 almost forgot the cows...

Norman- dunno why we named him that

Herman- dunno either....but he sure did taste good  ..sorry all u vegetarians... :-( he knew he was going to die tho...it was really sad

oh oh...

Peeps- Duckie not mine but I did take care of him for a week...the other ducks pecked at him :-(

:flowers: Snoopy - 8yr old Female Min. Pin., Chihuahua Mix. I've always wanted a dog named Snoopy so she was my first dog and that's what I named her. :)

 Big Dummy - 1yr old American Bulldog 110 Lbs. The name says it all!! He's a beautiful specimen but he doesn't have too much life experience yet. But He's my sweet boy and is just coming out of the "puppy" phase... He'll be a wise dog one day, but I'm keeping the name.

:D Julius Squeezer - 6yr old Ball Python. A little cheesy I know but I thought it was funny!!! :fun:

:pepsi:

Angel [Angel Claire]: my mom named here after a character in the book/movie "Tess". Ironically, her name is the exact opposite of her. [Cat]

Ginger [Ginger Lily]: she was named Ginger when we adopted her, probably because she's a calico and they're also known as ginger cats - we always give our cats middle names, and our last cat before Ginger was named Lily and they looked identical. [Cat]

Gypsy [Gypsy Rose]: I have no idea why we named her Gypsy, but now it fits her so well. Rose is my middle name, why we gave it to her - no idea. [Cat]

Isabella [Isabella Josephina]: my aunt suggested Isabella for her when we found her in a parking lot - and once again, I have no idea why. We picked Josephina as her middle name because we found her in a Saint Joseph church parking lot. [Cat]

Merlin: I was reading King Arthur books when Melrin joined the family, and I thought the name fit him well. [Cavy]

Sparky: my family called Merlin "Sparky" forever, and when they bought Sparky for me I had no say in his name. [Cavy]

Eddie: I don't know why I started calling him Eddie, but the name stuck on him. [Ornate horned toad]

Lucy: "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles was playing on the radio when I was bringing her home. [Hamster]

Popcorn: I don't know why I named him this, but I always told myself that if I ever owned anything albino, I would name it Popcorn. [African clawed frog]

Avocado: I wanted to keep the food theme going with my froggies, and he's kinda the color of an avocado. [African clawed frog]

Katy: my mom named her when she bought her nineteen years ago, but we have no idea why she picked Katy. [Cockatiel]

I think I got everyone... :p

from her little ladder.

when approached.
Posh & Specks - A male sailfin silver/white mollie & a female black & white
speckled mollie.

Hi RandomWiktor :)

Your thread has turned out to be a "Classic," one that everyone who posts in this forum can participate in and find interesting to read.

I think it deserves to be pinned so it will continue to be active into the future! :D

Why thankyou! ^^ Thats great, too, because I have two more happy additions to my furry, feathered, and finned family that I'd like to mention :)

Jeff Klee is a male betta who I purchased because he had a self mutilation issue (was eating his own fins, basically, as a result of stress). I have two friends who are in therapy for self mutilation, and they were very excited to learn they weren't the only ones with that problem. So, I agreed to combine the guy's first time and the girl's last name to make my fish's name.

Matamoras is a male betta from wallmart who had fin rot and the first stages of dropsy. He has kindof smallish fins and is a very pale color that looks like the shredded ginger you get with Sushi (or in my case, seaweed/rice/avacado rolls). I have a character on an RPG site who is a castrated, ginger-colored wolf named Matamoras, and thought that due to his small, slightly unmasculine fins and ginger color, the fish should be named the same. Its also a place in PA, but that had nothing to do with it (lol).

Brownie- my bunny that I got in kindergarten. Named b/c he was brown

Chopper- my mother's bunny that we gave her when I was in 1st grade. She was named cuz her ears reminded my mom of a helicopter.

Mandy- bunny we got when I was in 2nd grade. Came with the name.

Nibbles- bunny we got when I was in 5th grade. Named after the traditional bunny name

Boots- first family dog. Named b/c her feet were white and her legs were black so it looked like she was wearing boots.

Toby- Dog after we had to re-home Boots to a non-kid home. Named cuz it's a cute name

Maci- Dog, named cuz I liked it!

Yep, we name our pets pretty boringly but that's alright. ;)

MUFFIN:Norweigan Forest Cat, I recently had to put her down. She would have been 15 on 09/08.
DINAH: He's an all black kitty. Yes, I said he, kind of a funny story, thought he was a girl when I got him, he was a rescue at 5 weeks with his brother Tigger and it was kind of hard to tell what sex he was. So anyway I named him after the cat in "Alice in Wonderland" even though that cat was white. He comes when he's called, so I don't think he minds the name.
TIGGER: Dinah's brother, a brown nosed tabby. He's pure stuck up cat! :D
BAILEY: He's my baby, he's almost 2 and over 17lbs, he's just a mutt, but looks like a long-haired tuxedo cat. I named him Bailey cause he just looked like a Bailey, hard to describe.

Previous pets:

Jessie: A stunning Golden retriever we had when I was a kid. Parents named her so no idea on meaning there.

Mickey: My first and most precious guinea pig. I always thought she had a look of mickey mouse about her, hence the name.

Chamois: My hamster was the colour of a chamois cloth.

Suki: My first cat, no idea where the name came from

Current pets:

Taggart: My beautiful baby Ginger Tom! He is nearly 6 but is all kitten! Named after the main character in the TV series "Taggart" as he is Ginger!

Fly, Orange, Cookie and Dora: Swordtail, 2 platies and a female guppy. All named by my son. Think the first 3 were off the top of his head; Dora from Dora the Explorer.

Priscilla: Male guppy named after Priscilla Queen of the desert.

Baby: Small black widow tetra; cos he is so much smaller than the rest of them.

That's the lot for now. Am hoping to get a Golden retriever puppy next year and call her Chloe.
