My tank had been up and running for around 3 months. The small(half a little finger nail) snails are increasing in number. I presume these have come in on plants. I assume these are what are termed ' pest ' snails and have already noted previous advice on how to get rid of them. Before I do so, however, is there any benefit to keeping a few of them?

Lots of benefit - they eat leftover food (try cutting down if you see a snail explosion), keep the substrate clean, eat algae and are fun to watch zooming around the tank - my god can those things move

You can also sell them when you get too many :good:

Huh!!.. I cannot imagine that anybody would want to buy those off you.... I'l rather pay someone to come get them out of my tank....

People always need em, specially puffer owners :)

I myself recently purchased some to help with the algae clean up, they done a great job and have now run riot throughout some of my tanks, I now need to get the DP tank up and running asap!

They are considered beneifical in planted tanks. They get leftover food and dead/dying plants, they eat algae, and also mix the substrate up.

Im with Ludwig ... they are a pain in the wotsit, offer zero pros and look horrible, few botia shows em whos boss !
