I have a sheet of film stuck to the back of the tank that I use to create a background. It keeps getting condensation and so appears discoloured/dis-shaded, is there any method which stops this or am i just silly?

I hae heard of some people using vaseline to help it adhere to the back of the tank. I did try that once just to see. The problem there is that you still get air bubbles that show and hn the edges start to dry out ater a while once again leading to the same change of color. Not really sure what the answer is. I do know that once he tank is in place, it is usually to near the wall to do much changing at that point.

Hi BPH :)

Your question isn't silly at all and may have a simple remedy.

I've had trouble with this too and found that putting scotch tape all around the edges of the background will keep this from happening. It would also be a good idea to check your filter to be sure that there's no water splashing out of it. If there is, it is apt to be seeping down between the tank and the film. It only takes a little water to make a big mess if this is the case.

Hey :good:

Thanks for the replies. When you say scotch tape, do you mean double sided tape??? (to create a 'seal' round the edges of the tank/background)

There is no water coming from the filter...

Cheers!

My local fish store sells a glue stick (kinda like prit stick) specially designed to fix the backing sheet to your tank without spoiling the glass.
makes the colours 100% bolder and more striking. I recommend.

Hi BPH :)

I use Scotch Invisible Tape in the 3/4" width. If you use it all around the back, it won't be too attractive when the tank is seen from the sides so try to do the job evenly and neatly.

I like jnw1981's idea about using a glue stick. :D

JNW1981 ---> I like the sound of that. Are you in the U.K? If so, could you tell me the name (and phone number if possible). If not, the product name and details? Or both..... :good:

Thanks for all the replies!
