Howdy guys, apologies if this has already even covered, searching on my phone is a nightmare!

I'm redoing my 140L into a proper aquascape and want Angelfish as the main fish.

So a few questions:

1. What is the ideal number of Angels to keep together, for this size of tank or in general?

2. How does it work mixing different types of angels together?

3. Probably the most common question, what fish can I keep with Angels? I don't want to overstock the tank as it will work against the aquascape theme, but some variety is needed.

I'm aiming for a very calm community, to keep the aquascape as tidy as possible, but also because aggressive breeds and communities don't interest me as much. It seems that Angels, although predatory, are quite a relaxed species? So the tank mates need to be of a similar disposition ideally, and small enough to keep the tank looking quite minimal, but not small enough to get gobbled up by the angels.

Not too much to ask is it lol

Cheers guys, Chris.

1. 1 angel fish for 140 L, You need around 50 cms of depth for them.

2. Do not mix angels, They will kill each other. Only keep 1 angel.

3. I keep Emperor Tetras with my angel, Really big tetras and really active. Work well with angel fish.

Keep in mind that angels are not calm fish, There not shy and will go at any fish that bugs them but there fairly okay most of the time.

Im no expert but a couple of my ideas would be congo tetras, bleeding heart tetras, giant danios? (not sure how giant they actually get) 6 corys, pair of rams (boliv, blue or yellow) and ofcourse u cant hav a tank without a pleco!

Thanks Jakes!

Regarding the number of Angels for the tank, I've been looking at a lot of aquascapes online and even owns by the Green Machine, and they do seem to have quite a few for the size of tank..

Is there much variety in size of angel species? I don't suppose there's a dwarf one at all?

nah i dont think any stay dwarf they'll all grow up.. u could maybe hav 2? but the tank isnt very large for angels. they especially like a tall tank, if u got a mating pair they'll get very aggressive if they wanna spawn. if u or the bloke at the lfs can sex em 2 females would be the go i think.. but like techen said probly just 1 in there ideal. if u want 2 do it tho... koi angels looks cool

Wow, how have I kept Angels for years at a time and not had them kill each other?
Yes a mating pair will become agressive, but have kept mating Angels in community tanks without deaths.

Thats the first ive ever heard about Angels only being kept singly also!!! Had them for years in group without any problems

What other fish have you successfully kept with Angels dude?

Corys, dwarf gourami, even a knife fish, chinese algae eaters, tiger barbs, zebra danios, amongst others.
Oh yes there was also a third Angel with the breeding pair.
