Could anyone recomend some suitable tankmates for a P. Demasoni in a 35gallon tank? The decore will be cichlid friendly and the water parameters will be bufferd to provide suitable pH levels.

Sam.

How about a group of Caeruleus, they are nothing like demasoni and so tend to co-exist with them pretty well. This tank is very small as far as these kinds of fish are concerned, so a lot of mbuna types get too big and/or aggressive. Another idea is to make it a species tank of demasoni and get a bunch of them.

as the previous post above says the tank is a wee bit too small to start mixing types of mbuna but with demasoni the trick is to have a group of 10+ due to the fact demasoni are quite aggressive this will spread the aggression with overcrowding and you may get some breeding groups in that size aquarium but make sure you have excellent filtration i.e 2 filters running.

my mate has a trio in his 4ft tank with ps.flavus, crytocara moori, nimbo venustus, melanochromis auratus and an eye biter they seem to be doing fine just make sure you have enough caves or territories for them all to take hold of and you might get away with mixing.

Would a single specemin with some other smaller mbuna which arnt imilar looking to the demonsoni be ok?

Would a Yellow Lab be ok with them? or are they too big?

Sam.

Yep, yellow labs seem to be one of the best tank mates for them, as it must be that they don't see them as a threat. Nice contrast of colours too with them two :good:
