take them to a fish store, some might even give you store credit for them... killing them when you can take them back is just stupid, the only reason I could see going that route was if the fish was about to die from being sick, even then its still hard to do... As far as eating them, I wouldn't. probably not the best tasting fish.
And probably could carry diseases / toxic substances. LOL @ going to doctor with an indigestion.
Doctor: "What did you eat before?"
Patient: "Well, I ate a couple of mollies."

Why would they carry more or less disease than fish caught in a local lake or ocean?

Weaker immune system due to inbreeding, toxicity of the flesh of Mollies - unknown, but some fish may have toxic parts.

Hmm, this might be an opportunity for people to study the effect of eating aquarium fish on the human health. *gets notepad open to take notes*
OP, please do report the following:
method of preparation.
taste.
any changes on health.
stool quality.

I live in San Diego where the ocean is so dirty from us, LA, and Tijuana, yet people still catch and eat fish right off the pier. I grew up catching and eating Catfish right out of murky lakes in Georgia. I don't understand why that is acceptable but not eating unwanted Mollies. I'm getting tempted to just eat them and see what happens. I'll probably fry them.

Honestly, the toxicity of the flesh is what I came here to learn. That is the only thing I'm not sure about and the internet doesn't seem to have an answer.

Do us all a video

My roommate is saying "not tonight" but if I can convince her I promise you all a video.

I've googled it already and nope, nobody reported about eating any of those. You might be the first to report about it. o_O

Even with catfish caught in murky waters, notice that some people take caution with their eggs, as some kitty fish have toxins stored in those.
But the worst fish one can choose to eat is the FUGO O.O

Its FUGU :)

And i think there are only about 50 people in the world licensed to prepare them. You have to do it a certain way and not puncture any organs so as to not let the poison into the meat. Watched a chinese guy do it once. Was so quick and precise he took out the heart at the end, still beating.

Im not interested in your mrs, i want to see a luntic eat a fried molly.

There you go, you've built up an immunity to it :good:

This thread is epic

Yeah, I haven't heard of their name ever since I saw a documentary on the Fugu on Animal Planet many years ago. Saw how the host of a TV show had to eat some Fugu meat and he was like "If the fish isn't properly prepared, I'll be dead.".

Mollies, reminds me of my black mollies I've had long ago. They were something like this

but with a two-sword tail similar to a lyretail Xipho.

What kind of mollies do you have Swimingly?

I wonder what's up with that pangasius rumor. They say that the pangasius is full of toxins, (and I've been eating that stuff every few months). But something says otherwise and makes it look like it's just propaganda due to the fish being too cheap and ruining the markets (especially US markets).
