i hope you realise that you have got some 4ft tank busters in that.....

what are the dimensions of the tank? (couldnt find any in the post)

Which are those exactly, Anything that gets to big we will just sell it
w00t.gif
what are the tank dimensions?

for a start the tinfoil barbs will get about 12 inches+ so they should really be rehomed im affraid and depending on tank depth the severum might need to go too
No worries, I like buying new fish, we have had these a couple of years now, they look great, the tank is 4 ft, Im sure they wont live forever either.
how deep is the tank?

please research the fish before chucking them in.....

We get advice from the people who sell them to us. I think a lot of PPL with fish like to buy them because they look nice. We are not serious obsessed fish keepers and the fish are very healthy and not mistreated, I bet a lot are!!! I only created this forum for the tank in the wall, not the fish.

when is keeping wrong sized fish in wrong sized tanks not really mistreated?, but as you have said you take the advice from the people that sell them so ill leave it at that.

good luck.

No one is saying that they will live forever. Never the less the fish are too big for the current tank. We have a duty to keep fish alive as long as we can.

Which seems hasn’t proven adequate enough.

I only created this forum for the tank in the wall, not the fish.

What's that supposed to mean? People are going to comment on the fish regardless.
I agree the tank is brilliant and for that you should be highly commended.

Thanks for the comment on the tank, we are pretty happy with it - it's approx 140litres and regards the fish then I am the 'keeper of the fish' although it's my wife who posts, I am well aware of how large these fish grow and it's many years since we lost or sold any fish, I doubt very much that there is anyone on this site that hasn't got a fish or too in their tank that won't eventually out grow it's living space.

As your concern for the fish a couple of additional comments; The filter is also not really adequate, it's only a tetratec 600 athough it's matured 3 years with mods, but don't worry too much as I've also backed it up with a modification not shown where I use additional filter with mature kaldness K1

when the tin foils reach 8 to 10 inch then they will be just about big enough to go in my other tank - but at the moment they are too small
So my wife picks the fish and I look after em - (properly), as my wife said she put this on the site to show how we put the tank in the wall
so your comments on the fish today are not valid, at the size they are now they are fine, I agree they will outgrow the tank but not in the next few weeks.
We could have shown the tank with a shoal of tiddlers in but not the effect we were looking for.

:good:

Love this tank

Hi, 'N'kids, good wall tank you have good job, I like it,,, :good:

is difficult or not when you cleaning the tank because it's rather high,,,

Intresting.

How far can u slide out the tank now it's full?

Here is a tank I maintain for a client, it's in a wall partition and the panels at the rear lift off giving good access to the system.

We have a step stool to clean it out, also we drain half the water off before pulling it out from the rear of the tank. We dont need to pull it out to feed either, there is a small gap at the top. when we do pull it out we give it around 6-8 inches and thats enough to get your arms in.

This tank looks really nice, but not enough room in our house to do that. I have explained somewhere how the tank works, Everything is behind the rear wall and external. We dont slide the tank out when it is full, no need. when it comes to doing the water change the filter will pump the water out and then we slide the tank out then...Not fully out, no need.

you say that tiddlers wasnt the effect you were looking for but in a tank thats 4ft wide to only be 140 litres must be very narrow and im affraid your limited to what you can stock to keep fish healthy. a large group of cardinals would look much better in my opinion with plenty of plants, but hey you are the keeper!

posting pics of big fish in small tanks on a fish forum is going to get a reaction, believe it or not....

i think maybe you need to research your fish before you let your wife buy them......

yes people do get sold fish that arent suitable for their size tanks but normally learn from their errors not just dismiss them saying that comments on the fish are not valid

Ahh I see, Hang frame on Hooks.

I was under the impression that frame would be stuck to glass of tank therefor making it look seamless.

Hence the reason i suggested an actuator, although a simple glaziers sucker would do.

Looking good though.

We havn't sorted the frame yet, but my husband thinks the frame should have a ledge on it to hook over the top of the glass. therefore, just lifting it off the tank, easy really. I have suggested the glass sucker but it really is easy to pull out with a leaver he has applied to it.

OK I'll ask your permission to buy fish next time;
You didn't read my reply; I said your comments are not valid 'today' and that's because the fish are no where near fully grown yet and still have enough space, to be more precise the tank is 350mm deep x 1200mm long and 450mm high - but the realistic water calc is around 140L (minus gravel & space at the top)
over 30 gals of water for 23 inch of fish is not a crime, and tank shape gives them good length to swim in.
the post was about the tank and now it's going off subject a little - so i'll stop here.
Dave
