Well.. the plan was to let the tank mature for a few months before getting these little things, which i did. I thought i would be a little less dilligent with the cleaning of the algae this week in preparation for the new arrivals, and add them with a good food source present. I added a group of six otos yesterday to the tank, and they seem to have settled in really well. The LFS had had them in store for a few weeks, and he took the time to select me 6 healthy little porky fellas for my tank.
They are mental cleaners these little things, but whilst the algae is dissapearing at a rate of knotts, poop is appearing just as quick.
Do they just keep eating and eating and pooping out the excess?
As the amount of algae reduces, will their poop output reduce too? (it kinda notices on the sand )
If anyone is trying to decide if to get some otos for algae removal, dont hesitate!! get some otos (if your tank is mature enough that is!!)
Cheers
