Hi,

I have 2 ottos, just reading another thread and I see that there is a comment about Ottos needing a supplement. What else should I feed them, wafers? ( the ones I feed Corys?) What, suggestions please from Otto owners.

Thanks, :good:

Mine eat algae wafers, and they also like cucumber and courgette which I put in for the BN plec, and occasionally spinach, peas or broad beans.

Hi,

I'll pop some cucumber in for them, how long shall I leave it in tank for? Glad you found your Otto!! I lost one of mine, but he must have died and been eaten :(

Best not to leave cucumber in the tank for longer than 24 hours as it will start to turn you water cloudy as it begins to decay.

The Otos diet should contain Algae and soft green food like Zucchini (Courgette), Carrot, Cucumber.

My ottos will not take any prepared food...I have tried algae waffers, pleco food, zuchini, spirulina tabs (algae),...Plecos will ussually take all of this food, but ottos just don't seem to like it. Or maybe mine aren't hungry, because I have had them for over 2 yrs now and they are thriving :)
If you have a big tank and a lot of plants I think you don't need to supplement their diet, there is apparently always some algae on the plants or bogwood for them to eat.

Hi,

thanks for all your advice. The Ottos don't touch the wafers or the cucumbers, but the corys love them :good:

They stay either on the glass or plants, and I leave algae on both for them, so fingers crossed. :)
