The photo doesn't really do it justice as to how big it is! It goes under where the filter rests all the way to the other edge. When I lifted the lid up, some of the middle bubbles started popping, I guess because of the change in pressure from the cooler room air temperature. It was more filled in originally.

'Get that camera out of here!'

Draco's isn't spread out nearly so much but it's piled up higher :)

I love seeing my boys so happy and content

Some Bettas like stacked nests. Some Bettas like spread nests. And some Bettas (like my crowntail Merlin) insist on filling half of the 10 gallon with an inch-think nest.

Of course, there WAS a female in that tank....

And he DID use that nest....

But they're all different. And they're all soooo cute.

I wish I had gotten a better picture of Orion's before so many of the bubbles popped. I took the lid off to do a partial water change, and by the time I remembered where I had set my camera, a good portion of the center was all gone!

The nests are all so cute. I swear I feel like a mom whose kid just drew them a picture at school, and I'm all proud of it, pinning it up on the fridge LOL. Not quite the same but sort of close with my taking pictures and posting about it :D. The stacked one can survive a partial water change a lot better than the spread out one. I guess they will be prepared just in case some female miraculously wanders by :p

HOW sweet!
Not many of my boys bubblenest because, well they're mostly sick when they get here and it's usually a long time before they start feeling better!
And it doesn't help much that I almost OD'd 2 of them on MelaFix. Uugh.

You definitely must be doing something right with your boys.
Yay!

I have a lot of admiration for all your efforts and your caring for your rescue boys. It must feel so incredible when you can take one at death's door and bring him back to a healthy, vibrant, and happy fish. It has taken awhile for me to get over so much paranoia after what happened with Haiku, so I feel particularly joyful to see these two thriving so happily, and I only hope and pray they continue to do so. I guess I still worry about some sudden, overnight change. I still come straight to their tanks to peer in on them when I first get up in the morning.

This isn't really related to the topic, but I remembered this cute pic I got last week of Draco checking out my bird. He actually flared at her but I didn't catch him in time. The flash really brings out the blue/green in him. He has more plants, including a real one, in his tank since this pic was taken.

Yep, it certainly is a fabulous feeling when you see them swimming around normally for the first time. You can almost see the smile spread across their face as they can, for the first time, swim in a straight line, or watch them discover it isn't painful or really, really hard to swim up to the top for air. There's nothing like it.

I'll never forget the day I decided to give Jasper his first water change. After 5 days of heavy meds, he had been hanging around in a plant not moving at all. When I put him back into his tank after the change was over, it was almost like he realized he could swim. He was a swimming freak after that, and he still hasn't stopped!

I LOVE that picture of the bird and your fishy. That's priceless! lol

and super cutie tank! It looks like there's tons of fun in there for him!

And I know what you went thru with Haiku, because of Amos.
It's hard to put yourself out there again and take the risk of losing another one, but I've decided the benefits of having them here with us for a while are far greater than the pain we'll feel when they're gone, and have bought 12 more since I bought Amos. :)

Awww I love your birdy and fishy pic. You can just read his mind, "What the heck is that thing?! Better flare at it just in case" *poof* :D

The best is Orion flaring under his bubble nest. Soooo cute :p
