Online Vendors For Betta Fish?

I'm in the process of cycling my 3rd tank (2nd fishless). I can not believe how much I enjoy these fish. I'd like to avoid purchasing my next Betta from a LPS. Are there any good online vendors anyone can recommend?

Martinismommy, AKA karen mac auley. I highly recommend this seller. She is amongst the top rankings for bettas in the US. she is known around the Betta world

Basement bettas AKA sherolyn. Another recommended seller. She breeds great fish. I love looking at her fish. She is another top ranking "pro" number 2 in the US

Bettascapes AKA Rachel. I have personally dealt with rachel before and she is a sweet hearted person. Her fish are also gergeous! I actually have a male coming in from her as of a few minutes ago. She also has great prices. Though some of her HM's have round edges which isn't good for breeding

Hopdigitty. This is a transhipper in the US. They receive fish often from Thailand that they in return, ship to the buyer in the US. Which means hey constantly have stunning fish from Thailand due to some bidding being abandoned by the buyer or other issues.

US breeders and sellers on EBay

Emiad. Emiad is a great seller and always has great fish, I constantly monitor there auctions looking for a nice one. I've noticed thought that they constantly have makes with really long anal fins, which isn't good if you are showing in the IBC

Aquabid is your best choice IMO. I would look for those sellers

Not sure if you're already aware of this or are doing this, but I thought I'd mention that you could use your other tanks to help this one cycle (I'm sorry that I'm unable to give you any other places you might be able to get a betta). If you have enough media from another tank to mostly fill the new one, you could simply transfer this media and end up with a cycled tank. If not, you could still move some media over to speed up the cycle.

Be careful buying fish off of Aquabid. I have bought some there myself but anything less than a pristine reputation should be considered a warning sign on that site.
Another thing to be aware of is that many sellers are not located inside the US and do not do anything to help you get fish through customs. That sounds quite easy but it is not. An annual permit to import fish runs in the hundreds of dollars and each shipment must be inspected on arrival for a rather significant fee. My own LFS did a lecture at a club meeting about how they buy fish from overseas. Among many of their costs was a fee of over $100 for each shipment that they needed to have inspected plus, if it happened to arrive at the wrong time of day, an added fee to recall the inspector outside of his normal working hours to make the inspection. There is no way you want that mess as an individual who merely wants to move 1 or 2 fish across the border. As I see it your only other option would be what amounts to smuggling, something I would definitely discourage you from trying.
Stick to US breeders only on Aquabid or similar sites.

I'm wondering, I'm in Canada, so I'm looking into US breeders, though getting the fish through the border would still be difficult. Any advice on Canadian's on the site?

I do have a few canadian friend who purchase from breeders. a couple actually are breeders. there are some in alberta, saint johns NL. Ill consult with them for recommendations on good canadian breeders. ive heard the postal service there is crazy though
