One Of My Lfs's Has Been Broken Into :(

Just seen in my local paper that one of my local fish shops has been broken into. As far as they can tell nothing's been stolen since there was nothing of real value there to a casual thief, but a lot of the tanks were smashed and some had paint smeared across them. They got into the filter room and poured copper into the system, so even the fish that were still in intact tanks are all dead. Such a horrible waste.

The shop has only been there two months, and they reckon the damage is around £20-30k.

I just don't know what's wrong with some people

Perhaps, though they keep a lot of marine fish there so I guess it's plausible they just poured in whatever was there (the article said that copper is good for fish in small doses but large ones will kill them - I know nothing about marine fish myself). Whoever it was and their motivation, it's such a waste of beautiful fishy life.

The police seem to have a good idea of when it happened though. Here's hoping they catch whoever Is responsible.

In a way it's kinda galling. I was there a few weeks ago and had to tear myself away as my tank is still cycling and I knew they'd just die. Now it seems they'd have lived longer in my semi-cycled tank

This happens so regularly... its barely ever reported any more unless the damage is up in the tens of thousands..

You'd be amazing what people steal from shops... Only the other day i was hacked off to find an empty box of fluval 3 wool pads... i mean.. of all the things you need to steal...

Its so easy when you go into shops and see whole systems of miserable fish... to consider that it might have been caused by come muppet or 'anti' (same difference!) to have chucked something in the water...

Again, found a cereal bad someone had chucked into the marine system with the liverock so i didnt see it until i was having a panic as the fish werent looking too happy!

I see as This is a well planned attack on someone business. he even made sure all fish are dead. Looks like business problems .. Or a affected customer becomes terrorist ..

No voters.. No Government.. No military action..
No fish.. No pet shop.. No threat to your business..

See this shop is only open for 2 month but have 20/30k damage.. Must be a killer of local aquatic shops.
