So, when my Betta "Crown" took a turn for the worst we thought he was dead. I have put him in saltwater to ease his suffering, as I thought there was no hope. I asked my husband to take care of him, because I didn't have the heart to flush him to heaven when the moment came. Well, my husband never did, and when I woke up this morning, Crown was swimming! He was breathing! He was blowing bubbles!!!! Over half of the Ich parasites had dropped off of him! I would never tell someeone to keep a betta in brackish conditions for more than 5 minutes. I did only to help him breathe in his last moments, as we though he was gone. Poor guy was on his back last night struggling to breathe. This morning he is a completely different fish!!!! OMG I am so happy!!!!

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Wow! You can keep fish in a salinity of 1 tablespoon per five gallons to kill ich for as long as it takes, just as long as you use marine salt, not table salt (You probably already know this) 50% water changes once a day can also kill ich, although that is also kind of a pain to do,bout usually you only need to do those for a week. I'm so glad that Crown is healing!!!

Omg I am just so excited. We really thought he was a goner. I just bought the heater I need. So now, to kill the rest I am doing the gradual temperature increase, and I did a water change and I am about to re-add some marine salt for helping him breath. I actually was told not to keep a betta in marine salt for more than the 5 minutes, but by golly it worked. My husband is super happy as well cause this was the betta he picked out and bought for me. He was sitting next to the tank last night looking all sad that the poor little guy was on his back. I have the filter slowed and covered with a bottle to eliminate the majority of the current (the current freaked him out) and what little current there was was the only think moving that poor fish. Now he is active (somewhat) and the fact that he is blowing bubbles is just amazing.

Why marine salt and not table salt?

**UPDATE**

I guess this was his final burst of energy to say goodbye. I just when to check the tank temperature and he was belly up, no breathing, no response to touch.....RIP Crown :rip: :(

have you tried actual white spot treatment? My sister had an outbreak recently and that cleared it right up.

Oh sorry just read he died. Sooooo sorry to hear this

I was using both the ich treatment and salt baths. I had just gotten the heater so that I could slowly heat the tank. The poor thing got hit really hard with it, really fast. I had only been treating for 3 days. I thought he was going to make it....but I think he was too weak.

I'm sorry to hear about Crown. RIP, Crown.

Hermithall, you don't use table salt to treat ich, because table salt has iodine in it.
