I just went to check on my main 4foot tank first time today.
Everything dead in the tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I put zuchini in it last night and it as completely polluted the water
i always use zucini the same way ive done for years
this tank was a couple of years old
had various L numbered plecs and my adult bn's, angels, tetras rainbowfish
hundrends of pounds worth of fish gone !!!
there were no problems last night everything was fine.
i could actually cry!! :-(

So sorry to hear about your loss. did the zuchinni fall somewhere where none of the fish could get to it or was it just left uneaten out in the open and how did you prepare it.

it was left uneaten most of it anyway.
always just add as it is done it this way all the time dont blanch it

test your water. it could be some ammonia levels or something.

theyll definately be ammonia anyway can tell by looking and smell. dead fish been lying as well all over so therell be a build up.
not sure what to do . got an empty tank :-(

Thats crap buddy! I lost all my discus and L plecs over a year ago when my filter stopped working during the night and i never noticed until coming home from work the next day. Gutted for you.

Really sorry to hear about your loss' mate. Didnt know it could be so fatal to have uneaten veg in your tank

Unless the zucchini was soaked in toxins I just can't believe it was the vegetable that did this. I say this because I often leave zucchini for multiple days, sometimes forget it and little pieces floating everywhere. I feed predominantly zucchini and never had an issue. I really think something else happened. Make sure to check all your systems. Correlation is not causation.

I agree, I frequently leave bits of pea in both my 60l and 20l and your tank is much bigger than mine.

Is it possible that the zuccini was soaked in some sort of fertilizer or something that poisoned them? Did you get it from the same place you usually do?

I'm really sorry to hear this :( I hope you get to the bottom of it soon, although I know that isn't particularly helpful now.

so sorry for your losses, hard to believe it could be the veg thats done it, i leave cucumber in my 60l and 125l until it gets eaten (sometimes 3days) with no problem.

Could any sprays/detergents have got into the tank?

This thread made me really sad, I'm so sorry for your loss. :( I'd be crying, for sure! I hope everyone here can help you get to the bottom of it, like people have already said I find it hard to believe it could be the vegetable alone...
You have my sympathies!

Sorry to hear.

I agree, I don't think it was likely to be the vegetable you fed. I leave cucumber in my tank for days, and there has never been a problem.
There is the possiblity that the zuccini was soaked in poison. Did you wash it first?

I would imagine it was something else.
Difficult to say what though.

This is a really good point...some vegetables can have pesticides and all sorts of nasty things on them that are bound to do terrible things if put in a tank. Since you said that you prepared it the same way you always do I'll assume you usually wash it first, but maybe it slipped your mind or something? :/
