I know this is a u.s thing but I would think it was broadcasted quite a bit. Did anyone follow this case?? The jury came in today, and all voted NOT GUILTY!!!

yeah, noone would keep quiet after that verdict, i think they came to that because there wasnt any factual, hard proof that she did what she did
though she should have at least gotten child abuse for treating her child like garbage, and the majority of people will think she did kill her but what can you do but speculate.

I don't think that is necessarily true. Her computer showing a bunch of search results of how to break a neck, and chloroform useage should be an indicator right there. And I know its not hard evidence but you just know sometimes, everyone knew. Who parties and gets a tattoo with "the good life" when you 2 yr old just DIED. She's a sociopath. If she didn't do it why did everyone around her keep asking where the little girl was? Gah it just makes me so angry and like you said the least of it should have been child abuse. She tampered with a body, dutch taped her child, and threw her away. And now she gets off scot-free and going to be a "star" and make a ton of money. It's O.J all over again. And what gets me is there were women on that jury, some might be mothers, and you are going to say not guilty? I don't know how they can sleep at night. And there is a special place in hell waiting for Casey. It's just so sad that little Kailey didn't get any justice. I guess its ok to just go kill your children now. It makes me sick

I covered crime for years as a newspaper reporter, and was a newspaper editor supervising crime reporters after that.

It seems Americans have lost their minds over this verdict. But none of them were in the courtroom, listening and seeing as the jury did every single moment of testimony and evidence. It's so easy to stand in judgment, but it's not really our place to do that, is it?

I'm not familiar with the case but your legal system is weird, it's no wonder you have people suing for millions over petty things when the outcome is decided by jury.

A jury cannot convict someone unless there is proof beyond all reasonable doubt, that is how it works in the UK, there must be a similar burden of proof in the US.

I did read that she'd be charged on 4 counts of perverting the course of justice or whatever the US equivalent is however.

Yeah I know its hard to be on the jury, I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to sit on one. I didn't think that she should die either, life in prison would have been better. But we did all watch it on tv and they covered it extensively. Idk I don't think its right, my opinion. My heart just breaks for the little girl. There are sick people in the world.

Good point about not seeing it from the jurors' eyes. Strictly speaking truly PROVING beyond any reasonable doubt is hard to do. There are many more guilty verdicts than cases that are truly proven guilty, but also many cases that can't be truly proven guilty even though you know they are. I think she should be tried for criminal neglect. Considering that a child can be considered missing immediately (as opposed to 24 hours for an adult) and fit parent should report their child missing almost immediately (after a short look around). Waiting a day or more is criminal neglect in my opinion.

Sometimes charges have to get creative. I remember the case where a woman created a fake facebook account and harassed her daughter's (former?) friend until she commited suicide. My understanding is that there is no law against causing someone to commit suicide (since it can happen on accident). But in this case her actions were irresponsible and malicious. I think in that case she should have gotten charged for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for every message and email she posted, as well as the act of actually creating the fake account.

actually there are laws set in place now for specifically that reason. People think its ok to bully someone until they shoot up a school or kill themselves, but obviously its not. We have laws for bullying and schools are required? to practice the zero tolerance policy regarding bullying. Its really horrible that kids aren't growing up and being taught the common sense to know not to be mean to other people.

casey anthony , is not innocent at all ,i followed the case every day for about 6weeks, they just didnt have enough evidence to convict, this is a woman who didnt report her 3year old dayghter ,missing, until 31 days after her death, then her body threw in a swamp, if you read the case, you will know why theres lynch mobs in us looking for her,

are you serious??? this casey,killed her daughter, didnt report it forn 31 days,then 2years down the line .she changes her story and says she died in a swimming pool accident. yet she was partying ,for weeks after her death, oh and if died in her swimming pool ,WHY WAS HER LITTLE 2YEAR OLD BODY FOUND ,THREW IN A PLAGGY BAG IN A SWAMP, THERE was just not enough evidence to convict, she had 31days to destroy evidence, oh and why was body found with ductape over her nose and mouth ,??/?

Not to mention the trunk of her car apparently had a black trash bag that smelled really bad that was empty but hair was found in it? Not to mention her lie about her "nanny" kidnapping her when the lady she accused of being her nanny didnt even know who she was.

You can't convict someone if there isn't enough evidence to prove their guilt.

The last I read of it she was being tried for perjury.

I think what most of us feel is there is evidence, but it was all circumstantial. What gets me if I just couldn't believe that ALL the jury came back not guilty. I thought there was going to be a hung jury...but not that. It's horrible, but she will get whats coming to her if she did do that. I just don't understand evil people, idk who could do that to their child =(


And sadly no, bullying will probably always be a problem but at least now there are laws in place to punish people who do it
