Oldwhitewoods 200l Nature Aquarium Journal

The problem with that is that slate when smashed is really sharp, so you will have to take the edges off a bit if you are handling otherwise it will cut your hands to shreds. I'm probably stating the obvious here but I thought I had better post it.

You could indeed smash up the slate but be sure to wear eye protection and try and smash it under an old towel or curtain on a hard surface that you dont mind screwing up. I know from experience aquascaping my friends mbuna tank for him, we decided to use slate pieces and smash them up to create a stacked mound effect. Bloody razor sharp slate flying hundreds of feet in all directions!

A mate of mine used small slate bits in his tank. To get rid of all the sharp pieces he loaded the lot into a cement mixer added water and let it run. Change the water now and then and Bobs yer aunty

As you can see a bit of growth has occured since the last photo, I have added some l arcuata and some crypts to he bargain. I intend now just to let to stems grow and keep trimming them to a desired height, but not as severe as the last trim.

looks fantastic. Is is just me (or maybe the photo) but does the water look a little on the green side? Or is it just just the green of the plants making it look that way. Anyway. I know you have some big plans for it, and i look forward to seeing them.

Anymore news on this tank?

Really lovely looking, from the pics. I can imagine it looks much better in real life.

Wow, your aqua scape is so refreshing, the look before the recent changes looked all soft and aloft/cloudy looking . The recent additions have given it an forest undergrowth look. 8) I love both. :D
My java moss grows well but always gets all manky and doesn't look very green, in fact theres black bits in it.
I hope you're intending to enter your aqua scape into some competitions, you're on to a winner there! :D

Teach me please!
Alex
