I was wondering if the breeders out there could help me with this. I've been reading up on the pros and cons of breeding older males vs younger males (debating whether to give Fiyero a miss in the daddy department), and the two major differences that are jumping out at me so far (besides loss of sex drive overall) are that while younger males are reportedly gentler with their females they don't tend to make as good fathers, and while older males can be rougher on the female, they tend to be very doting dads. Can anybody confirm or dispute this? I was wondering if maybe older males might not be better fathers just because they'd been bred more and consequently had more experience; in my case we'd be dealing with a first time dad, so I was wondering if this is really about age, or more about experience.

Anyone? :/

well I've noticed that the older are more agressive but very devoting dads because of past experience and that young are very gentle but rubish dads and more into getting pleasure than raising eggs  I've also found when breeding young fish regulary when they get to an older age they will still be able to breed because this makes them think that they are much younger so they still make sperm
