Old Cory parasites really bad today

I have all the gear right now to start up again straight away including fish but im going to let whatever was in there die off for a month or so first
With the wood, try scrubbing it with salt and a hard bristled brush.

No real proven science behind it, but since you're limited in how you can clean wood, when I battled camallanus worms in my tanks, I covered my wood in salt and really scrubbed at it. Since salt is drying and abrasive, I figured there was a good chance it would destroy any worm eggs left on the wood. Certainly can't hurt as long as your bristle brush isn't too stiff!

Soak the drifwood and ornaments in super salty water for a week. Add salt until it no longer dissolves. It will kill most things and then you rinse it under tap water, let it dry for a few days and it should be good to go.

Scrubbing driftwood can help by physically removing biofilm, which can house harmful disease organisms.

Thanks, The Bogwood is a nice piece but it seems to take up a huge area of the tank, Same with an old cave i had in there, But the Corys loved the wood & the cave, Debating if to ditch both if im honest

Cut the wood in half and put half in the tank. It's wood, attack it with a saw, rasp, sandpaper, etc. Make it into whatever size and shape you want.

I used a hole saw and cut holes in driftwood for catfish and loaches to sleep in.

Thanks, Im thinking of just thowing it away though cos of the parasites that may still be on it. Its not too expensive, £10 i can get a 30cm piece so its a decent size.
Just ordered my new sand today but still going to wait for everything to dry out & die off for a few weeks before starting it up again

Where can you find driftwood or bogwood for that price? I'm so jealous! Wood is so expensive here!

I get most of my stuff from here,
Aquarium Supplies

Its less than 10 mins from me & its huge & so cheap
Thanks! I've bought sand from them before, never even thought to check them for wood!

The only thing that worries me is that it says "treated for safety". That's a bit alarming, since it doesn't say what it's been treated with, or for what. If it's imported from abroad and sprayed with a pesticide for example, like many aquarium plants, then it could be toxic for inverts. @Essjay , have you heard of wood being treated with pesticides and poisoning inverts as well as plants?

Ohh small world, I live 10-15 mins from the store. They are always very helpful & believe it or not they are full of knowledge.
They seem to have everything on the shelf when you go in, Think i may bin the wood off anyway, I may just plant the new tank

Oh I bought the sand online, not in store! Think I live too far away. Bargain if you live close enough to pick out the wood pieces you want, and not worry about shipping either! You lucky duck :)
