Ok,who Did It! Giant Snakehead In A River In Lincolnshire

Yeah, that ban on snakeheads isn't the least bit fun. Hope it doesn't happen to you guys.
Whats less "Fun" is have an invasive fish reeking havoc on a ecosystem because somebody just had to have this pet that they couldn’t take care of.

theres a pick of it on pfk

Yip there, there is also a pic of the moon landing and the Mars landing, doesnt mean its 100% real!

Do you think that a Tropical fish would have survived in the Ice cold river water in the UK just now? I highly doubt it.

I think in some states they were really becoming a problem, but banning them nationwide even in cold states? That fish would never survive. Where I live, for a good part of the year, lakes and even streams are covered in ice. The snakehead would never ever make it through the winter. Another solution could have been just to ban the large snakeheads, but allow the small ones.

Oh, and the pic on pfk I'm guessing is probably is just a pic of any giant snakehead. I agree, it doesn't quite seem right that a tropical species would survive and feed in ice cold waters like that.

They have be found in Maine And Mass so apparently someone forgot to tell then they cant survive in colder water :D

They have been found in NE, but I highly doubt they would survive the winter and breed in conditions like that. I am not 100% sure though, so if I am wrong, somebody please correct me.

Crayfish are banned in the UK, every species except one, though some of the species banned wouldnt even survive in cold temperatures here. So it wouldnt suprise me at all if they were banned soon.

i have a small red type of lobster/crayfish that is apparently ileagel. the day after i got it some government types went into the lfs and "repossessed" the things.

but i still have one =) =P

It would probably be Cambarellus patzcuarensis. I saw them for sale in my lfs not so long ago, there was also some for sale on tropical fish finder, but they were quickly taken from the site. I decided its probably best I didnt buy any.
