Yes I was bad. Kathy rang me from the LFS to say their new supplier had sent in some lovely plecs, one of which was marked up as an L090 (papa panaque). Obviously, in Keighley, you dont turn up a chance like that - so Kathy brought him back for me.

But we're not so sure he's a papa, he's dark olive green with network/honeycomb markings, white on his tail but not on the sides of it - longer nose than a royal and he has a full tummy and is very active

The pic is totally crap, the spots are not whitespot lol - it's the bubbles off my internal filter, and he's not reddy coloured - he's dark olive green. What do you think? L090 or L203? Or something completely different?

His tail has a dark seam to it, and stripey sides (which is what made me think he's not a papa as they'd be pure white right?). You just cant see it all in the pic.

He's already chomping away on bogwood, and he's pooing, so he seems to be healthy enough :)

:-( :-( :-( :-(

Christmas sucks!!!!!!!

PMSL - I am so envious it's unbelievable, as you might have guessed. He is gorgeous, my rap photo taking skills don't show just how gorgeous he is. I don't think he's the Papa/L90, I think he's the Titanic/Volkswagen - have forgotten the L-number (is it L203/LDA65?).

Yep he will :) Up to 2ft, at a rate of about an inch a year. So I've got a good decade with him in my tank (6ft x 2ft x 2ft).

I'm so pleased he's an L203, cracking plecs, love 'em :)

ummm isnt the volkswagon one a 24" monster?

Yep, as I said, they can reach up to 2ft. Obviously it'll take 20 years though, well, technically 21 considering they grow roughly an inch a year, and he's only 3" ;)

And he is in a 6 x 2 x 2ft tank....

I think I must have pressed reply before reading the whole thread :)

8) where's my stick :X

According to the bible (Aqualog Loricariidae alle L-Welse) its an L203.
What is interesting to note is that the book states that L203 is also known as L90c.

It used to be, yep and the L090d too I think, but they merged them into the L203. I've just found out the way you tell an L090 and an L203 apart is by the spines on their body (L203 has them, L090 doesn't) - and the fact that when they're adult, the papa panaque (L090) is the only one with the huge lyre tail. L203 dont have the long extensions.

Mine has spines, therefore is an L203. And his name is now confirmed as Herbie *lol* I know, very unimaginative!
